H A R M O N Y ROTARY CLUB OF RINGWOOD & RINGWOOD SCHOOL PRESENTS ROTARY INTERSCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION 2019 AN INTERSCHOOL EVENT • This fantastic competition is now in its 8th year and this year involves 17 schools across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire • There are various age group categories running from 4 -18 years so everyone can get involved - with even a category for parents and teachers • The award ceremony and a professional exhibition of the winning entries is then showcased at Ringwood School Conference Centre • Last year we had over 1200 individual entries! WHO WILL YOU BE COMPETING AGAINST? This years competition is open to students, staff and parents from… Ringwood School St Ives Primary School Moyles Court School Highcliffe School Burgate School and Sixth Form Poole High School Trafalgar School at Downton Avonbourne College Purbeck School Bournemouth School Arnewood school Ferndown Upper School Wildern School Hampshire Collegiate School Forres Sandle Manor School Upper Shirley High School Downton Primary School HARMONY •This year’s challenge is to create a photograph which reflects the theme: HARMONY •A theme which gives you great scope for your own creativity and can be interpreted in a wide range of different ways HARMONY HARMONY of movement, dance, people together……. HARMONY HARMONY in nature, wildlife, between man and beast….. HARMONY HARMONY in the elements, natural and man-made HARMONY HARMONY in music, performance or dance HARMONY HARMONY – disruption, what happens when things are out of harmony ……. ? HARMONY HARMONY of colour or other visual elements HARMONY •Here are examples of winning entries from previous themes 2018 OVERALL WINNER 2017 OVERALL WINNER 2016 OVERALL WINNER 2015 OVERALL WINNER AGE CATEGORIES Years 4 - 6 Years 7 - 10 Years 11- 13 A Parent or Teacher! PRIZES • Winning entries will receive prizes of cash vouchers and photographic books. • Alongside the prizes there will also be an exhibition of images from winning and other selected entries. • At the exhibition an overall trophy winner will be announced from winners and runners-up in each age category. THINK CAREFULLY ABOUT WHAT YOU CHOOSE TO PHOTOGRAPH • Think about choosing an interesting subject BUT more importantly think about your composition, your timing, your use of light to make an engaging photograph • The most interesting person/scene or thing in the world can be photographed in a really uninteresting way – and the other way! COMPETITION RULES • You can enter only 3 images • Entries should be submitted as JPEG files attached to an email • Each individual JPEG photograph file should be retitled with your name, photo-title, school and age group and sent attached to an email [email protected] • With over a thousand entries entered into this competition, it’s really important you label your photographs clearly. • The deadline for entries is Wednesday 13th February GET SNAPPING!!!
