UCM Jazz Ensemble Auditions - Fall, 2020 Instructions for Online Jazz Auditions 1) Please use the following link to fill out the jazz auditions information form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfHDdTy1_zGNeMkpNbEbn0P5_B6Xmet GYgktjXo-okhZm6uAA/viewform?usp=sf_link 2) I will be sharing a folder with you titled “Jazz auditions - Fall, 2020.” Inside that folder are folders for each instrument, including pdfs of music and also accompaniment files. Links to those materials should be available by Saturday, 8/8/20. Please note, you are to play the etudes unaccompanied. Optional: If interested, please also include an example of you improvising (with accompaniment). For your convenience, I have provided changes and accompaniment in a number of tempos for Blues in concert Bb. If you prefer sending something else, that is fine with me. It is pretty easy to find backing tracks for many tunes on YouTube. Again, this step is OPTIONAL. If you are not comfortable improvising, no worries! Also Optional: If you happen to have a short prepared piece that you believe really shows off your abilities well, you are welcome to share that (in addition to the etudes). DEADLINE: Please share your videos by Monday, August 17th at 11:00 PM, if possible. Rehearsals will begin Thursday, August 20th. Please share a video of you playing the following: 1) Rhythm Section Audition Etude (Rhy Sec Aud Etude F20). The accompaniment track for that is an mp3 titled “Rhythm Section Etude.” 2) Eb Blues: Use the “Eb Blues Voicings” file, and “BIAB Eb Blues” midi file for accompaniment. Comp chords for the first 12 bars (bass walk, drums play time), and solo the 2nd chorus (all) 3) Rhythm Auditions F20 Bossa: Use the “Rhythm Aud F20 Bossa” file and the “F20 BIAB Bossa” midi file for accompaniment. Please comp chords the first time (bass play a bossa bass line, drums play time) and solo the 2nd time (all) Additional Requirements For Drumset Auditions In addition to the etude and two tunes, please also play a few seconds of each of the follow (and please announce each): (Play as many of these as you are comfortable playing.
