Hold mitt for Finishing Kick The Shotgun This boxing term, the shotgun, simply means a jab followed by a straight right punch. A double barreled shotgun means a double jab, and then the straight right. There are very few fighters who are never easy targets at sometime in a fight for the straight right punch. Many masters of the martial arts fight game still believe this technique to be the best combat tool of all time. It is fast and powerful, and if it is used correctly in conjunction with a jab to stabilize the target, it can also be very deceptive and stealthy. If this sequence is used correctly and if a fighter learns how to line up an opponent using double or triple jabs instead of a single jab, he can easily use a module form of the shotgun for sparring purposes to back up any opponent. Most fighters have difficulty fighting when someone backs them up. This fighting form is used to teach fighters how to line up an opponent, and then how create an angle against them by turning them outside. Turning your opponent inside or outside is an important tactical part of fighting. Against any faster or slugging type of opponent one must learn how to use turning as a tactical skill to keep him off balance by constantly changing his alignment. This footwork movement weakens his position and keeps both your defense and offense stronger. Any fighter who exercises the practice of those skills and tactics which are properties of both the shotgun and the 38 will be able to not only greatly improve his fighting abilities, but could acquire a decisive advantage over most fighters from any style. This is why both of these are requirements for first time black belt testing.
