Desecheo Island Marine Reserve Fishing is prohibited within the half-mile perimeter surrounding the island. 2. Condado Lagoon It is prohibited to fish aquatic or semi-aquatic species, except for lionfish. This is a designated no-take zone area, excluding the “San Antonio Canal”. 3. Isla de Mona and Monito Natural Reserves Fishing from shore is allowed at Sardinera Beach, between Punta Arenas and Cabo Barrionuevo, and in Pajaros Beach, between Punta Los Ingleses and Cueva Escalera Only line and rod fishing is permitted at Isla de Mona and Monito’s Marine Reserve (up to 9 nautical miles). Spear gun, net, pot and longline fishing is prohibited. Recreational fishing in the marine reserve (up to 1 nautical mile from shore) will only be allowed from shore in the 1) Sardinera Beach (Cabo Barrionuevo and Punta Arenas) 2) Pájaros Beach (Cueva Escalera and Punta Ingleses) camping areas, strictly using line or string with only one hook.
