The mul -use trail is intended to promote alterna ve forms of transporta on and provide new recrea onal opportuni es consistent with the goals set forth in the City of Grover Beach’s General Plan Circula on Element, County of San Luis Obispo’s Parks SMMR XCI and Recrea on Element, and City of Pismo Beach’s Pismo Creek Recrea onal Path Project Study Report. The trail corridor is located within the jurisdic onal boundaries of the ci es of Grover Beach, Arroyo Grande and County of San Luis Obispo. Other agencies with jurisdic on in the project study area include the California State Parks, Caltrans, and Union Paci c Railroad. The planning ec ort for this Feasibility Study has included key stakeholder interviews, eld inves ga on, jurisdic onal agency coordina on, environmental surveys, and applicable planning document research and review. The resul ng routes in the Beach Ci es Trail Feasibility Study largely re ect the input and advice provided through the planning process. The proposed trail traverses almost six miles and consists of a combina on of Class I and Class II facili es with connec ons to neighborhoods, schools, parks, downtown Grover Beach, employment centers and planned regional trail facili es. The mul -use trail is intended to promote alterna ve forms of transporta on and provide new recrea onal opportuni es with connec ons to neighborhoods, schools, parks, employment centers and regional trail facili es i-i BeachB Cities Multi-Purpose Trail TRAIL FEASIBILITY STUDY On a regional scale, the Beach Ci es Trail is part of a vital trail corridor within the regional system of planned and constructed trails envisioned to eventually connect San Luis Obispo County’s ci es and communi es to each other, major des na ons, and neighboring regional trail networks. An assortment of trail sec ons make up this ul mate regional trail system including: Pismo Creek Recrea onal Path XCI SMMR XCI Pismo Promenade 3 Arroyo Grande Creek Trail California Coastal Trail Juan Bau sta de Anza Na onal Historic Trail Ul mately, connec ons to the Beach Ci es Trail would provide the ability to reach Mexico and Canada via the State Coastal Trail. This Feasibility Study provides support for a Beach Ci es Trail concept and its ability to be developed along a con nuous route and constructed within a normal cost range. The City Council and other regula ng authori es should u lize this founda on document to prepare a de ni ve trail alignment study for adop on. Looking forward toward providing project funding for the trail’s development and documenta on of public support along with business partnerships will be essen al. The development of an economic strategy u lizing an enterprise group for public, private and government grants for the capital improvements should be given a priority. The development of project funding is a one to two year commitment for ini al resources to become available. The primary funding source will be through transporta on funding opportuni es.
