Naresuan University is strategically located at the heart of Thailand in Phitsanulok province. Phitsanulok is a major city of the lower northern region and, more importantly, the birthplace of King Naresuan the Great for whom the University is named. The university finally gained independent status and was officially named Naresuan University on June 29, 1990.
