He is currently Associate Professor in the Faculty of Visual Art + Material Practice and the Faculty of Graduate Studies at Emily Carr University in Vancouver. Students will work in small studio groups and be guided in their production of contemporary art works by a team of art teachers. All students will be encouraged to develop a personal portfolio throughout the week. Presentations by guest artists will add additional inspiration and excitement to the week. Attila Richard Lukacs Attila Richard Lukacs graduated from the Emily Carr College of Art and Design and was a member of the Young Romantics. A year after graduation, he moved to Berlin, working at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin. A decade later, he moved to New York City to be closer to the centre of American art. His work frequently references the historical compositions and themes of David and Caravaggio, as well as compositional devices of the miniature painters and illustrators of India and the Middle East. His work has been exhibited and collected in Canada and internationally. Angela Grossmann Angela Grossmann has devoted much of her career to examining themes of displacement and social margins through the use of collaged and transferred discarded materials. While still a student at Emily Carr College of Art and Design in 1985, Grossmann was introduced as one of the Vancouver Art Gallery’s “Young Romantic” painters most likely to influence the course of painting in that decade. Over the past 20 years, Grossmann has continued to be a significant force in the Canadian art world. Her work has been exhibited widely across Canada, the United States and Europe.
