November 30, 2017 Marubeni Corporation Marubeni to Start Implementation of Construction of a Waste-to-Energy Power Plant for Chonburi Clean Energy in Thailand Marubeni Corporation (“Marubeni”) will start implementation of construction of a waste-to-energy power plant for Chonburi Clean Energy (“CCE”) in Thailand, which is a joint venture between WHA Utilities & Power, Glow Energy and Suez Environment. This project is being carried out through Thailand’s feed-in-tariff program which promotes investment in waste- to-energy power plants using industrial waste. The project will be a 8.63MW waste-to-energy power plant for CCE constructed in the Hemraj Chonburi Industrial Estate which is located in the southeast region of Thailand. Marubeni will provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services as the EPC contractor to CCE and the plant will start commercial operation by the end of December 2019. Marubeni has selected JFE Engineering of Japan as the techology provider with their stoker-type incineration technology. In Thailand, illegal disposal of Industrial waste has been a problem in recent years, so it is expected that the government will continue to take the intiative in promoting such waste-to-energy power plant projects. In addition to this project, Marubeni is now constructing a waste-to-energy power plant using industrial waste in Thailand. It is said the demand for industrial waste treatment will expand sustainably in Thailand and Marubeni will continue to contribute to industrial waste management in Thailand with highly advanced Japanese waste incineration technology. Furthermore Marubeni will diversify its waste management project business to include not only Thailand, but also other countries in the Southeast Asia region.
