ELEBRATING W MEN IN SC ENCE NOV 2017 - APR 2018 The Cleveland Museum of Natural History celebrates the incredible stories and achievements of women in science and their impact on a new generation. THE BEARDED LADY Celebrating Women in Science champions the work done by women in science fields, at the Museum, in Northeast Ohio and around the PROJECT EXHIBIT globe. The Museum will launch this series of exhibits and events with a special edition of The Explorer Series featuring Harvard theoretical DROP-IN DISCOVERY physicist Dr. Lisa Randall. The centerpiece of the celebration is The Bearded Lady Project: SPECIAL PROGRAMS Challenging the Face of Science exhibit, on view at the Museum from Saturday, November 11 through Sunday, February 18. EXPLORER SERIES Featuring the Museum’s own Curator of Paleobotany and Paleoecology, Dr. Denise Su, this national touring photography exhibit showcases LECTURES the work of brilliant female paleontologists while shining a light on the challenges they face in a male-dominated field. Enjoy a showing of The Bearded Lady Project film, celebrating the work of female paleontologists and highlighting the challenges they face. After the film, a panel of scientists will answer hard-hitting and hard-to-ask questions and discuss what it’s really like to work in their various fields of science. Free, but requires registration. EXPLORING OSTEOLOGY TUESDAY, JANUARY 30, 7-8:30pm An “Exploring Osteology” class with Museum Curator of Human Explorer Series Lecture The Bearded Lady Project International Women Health and Evolutionary Medicine Dr. Nicole Burt, offering guests the Dr. Lisa Randall Dr. Denise Su and Girls in Science Day chance to learn about health directly from a leading expert in the field in a classroom setting. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE DAY SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 10am-4pm The event features opportunities to meet and interact with female scientists from the Museum and other Northeast Ohio institutions, a panel discussion on women in science with local female scientific leaders, and showings of the The Bearded Lady Project film.
