PRESS RELEASE Immediate Release | 2nd January 2014 To be held during Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sales, 7th – 11th January 2014 Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Supporting Charity Paris Turkington, 16 year old daughter of well-known Queensland thoroughbred breeder’s Gary and Phoebe Turkington of “Wattlebrae Stud”, Nobby, was seriously burnt in late August 2013, caused when accelerant was poured onto an open fire at a backyard party. Paris and her friend 15 year old Matthew (Matt) Richards, suffered third degrees burns as a result, Paris to sixty percent of her body, and Matthew to his chest, arms and legs. The Paris and Matt Charity Silent Auction has been brought about through the desire of a number of thoroughbred industry owners and breeders to raise funds for the ongoing rehabilitation for both Paris and Matt, and the important work of the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Burns Unit. The Silent Auction will be conducted solely online, with some framed items displayed in the Magic Millions Sales Day Office at the Horse Sales Complex, Ascot Court, Bundall (Opposite the Gold Coast Racetrack), from Saturday 4th January 2014.
