CELLAR The Cellar is our most intimate and private function room. Traditionally used to store boutique wines, the cellar was recently updated to offer an exclusive dining experience. CAPACITY The cellar has been a feature in Parliament House Banquet since its construction in 1882. Originally used for the storage of provisions, two of the three access hatches still survive. Cabaret Boardroom The gallery outside the Speakers’ Hall features portraits of former Speakers of Queensland Parliament. GREEN DECK* With sprawling views of Parliament House, the newly renovated Green Deck offers a unique outlook taking in the CAPACITY Speaker’s Green, gardens and the internal facade of Parliament House. Theatre Did you know? 280 140 The Green Deck is located on level 7 of the Parliamentary Annexe. When the Annexe was built in 1979, this location contained an inbuilt swimming pool and squash court for the exclusive use of members during their stay in the Parliamentary accommodation during sitting weeks. RIVER DECK* With breathtaking views of the Brisbane River, the eponymously named River Deck is a venue like no other. Recently CAPACITY renovated, the deck features an in-built speaker system, dining tables, high bars and lounges. Perfect for cocktail functions, receptions or informal barbecues. Cocktail Theatre Did you know? 320 160 The River Deck is located on level 7 adjacent to the Green Deck, overlooking the Brisbane River and Southbank. It is a vantage point for Brisbane City firework displays, including the Sunsuper Riverfire firework display, presented by Brisbane Festival. The roof of the Parliamentary Annexe is often used as a launching pad for fireworks. DANDIIR ROOM The Dandiir Room is the perfect option for smaller CAPACITY functions, providing an intimate setting for meetings, conferences and seminars. The Dandiir Cocktail Theatre room features a projector screen, permanent stage, smart lectern, microphone and audio system. 70 70 Did you know? The word dandiir is from the Durubul dialect of the Yagara language. Dandiir is taken from the phrase Tago Dandiir – Tago meaning altogether and Dandiir being the action of meeting or coming together. UNDUMBI ROOM The Undumbi Room boasts a fantastic range of features CAPACITY including a large projector screen, permanent stage, smart lectern, microphone and audio system. Cabaret Classroom Queensland Parliament invited the Yagera and the Turrbul people to submit names for the room, after which elders from the indigenous community in Brisbane 100 90 decided on the name Undumbi. Undumbi means the gathering of the Aboriginal clans from the Moreton Bay Banquet Boardroom coastal area. 150 40 THE SPEAKER’S GREEN The largest event space in Queensland Parliament, the prestigious Speaker’s Green is located at the heart of the Parliamentary Precinct. The picturesque outdoor venue features a perfectly manicured lawn, surrounded by heritage stone-masonry and lush gardens. The Speaker’s Green is an area of high significance within the grounds of the Parliamentary Precinct. Since 1895 the Speaker’s Green has been used for ceremonial functions and is frequently seen in the news as the location of many press conferences. The Lucinda Bar is named after the Queensland Government’s paddle-steamer, the Lucinda, and was constructed using timber from the original ship. Early drafts of the Australian Constitution were drafted aboard the Lucinda ship by Sir Samuel Griffiths. STRANGERS’ DINING ROOM One of the most popular rooms in Parliament House, CAPACITY The Strangers’ Dining Room features intricate parquetry floors and stunning period details such as early Banquet Cocktail Australian cedar yoke back chairs. The high ceilings and large floor space make this a perfect setting for dinner receptions, gala events and cocktail receptions. 80 100 Did you know? The Strangers’ Dining Room is the one of the largest rooms in Parliament House, containing many of its original late nineteenth-century furnishings, fittings and robustly detailed plasterwork. Our Executive Chef oversees the menus for every function hosted in the Parliamentary Precinct and takes pride in working one- on-one with clients, upon request.
