Lion & Lamb Plastic Canvas Pin DESIGNED BY MARY COSGROVE Materials needed: • QuickCount® 10-count plastic canvas by Uniek • Kreinik 1/8" ribbon 009, 100, 215C, 9194 • DMC embroidery floss 3821, 3825 • Fabri-Tac™ permanent adhesive by Beacon™ • Whimsy Glass Bead by Wichelt Imports: two turquoise blue (#5013) and two dark crystal green (#5133) • scissors • plastic canvas needle #18 • backing material: fabric, perforated paper, card stock, or similar • pinback Instructions: 1. Cut canvas according to graphs, and as follows: Base: 18 x 18 holes Background: 16 x 16 holes Overcast edges with Lion: 7 x 12 holes DMC 3825 Pale Lamb: 9 x 7 holes Pumpkin color 2. Using 1/8” Ribbon in 9194 Star Green, work the background piece completely in continental stitches. Overcast the edges with Star Green. Base: 3. Work the lion in 1/8” Ribbon 215C Antique Copper in continental 18 x 18 stitches and 6 strands of DMC 3821 in cross stitches. Overcast edges of holes lion with Antique Copper, adding back stitches as indicated to define lion’s edges. 4. Work the lamb in 1/8” Ribbon 100 White in continental stitches and 6 strands of DMC 3825 in cross stitches. Overcast edges of lamb with 100 White. Fill in completely 5. Holding background piece like a diamond, tack top and bottom with continental edges of the lion to the left center of the background with 215C stitches with 1/8” Ribbon 9194 Antique Copper. Tack the lamb to the center of the right side of the Background 16 x 16 background with 1/8” Ribbon 100 White slightly overlapping the left holes side of the lamb on the right side of the lion. 6. Using 1/8” Ribbon 9194 Star Green, whipstitch the background to the unstitched base, leaving one hole around all edges. 7. Overcast the edges of the base with 6 strands of DMC 3825. 8. Cut a 9-inch piece of 1/8” Ribbon 009 Emerald. Glue with Fabri- Lion: 7 x 12 holes * * Tac™ to the background, below lion and lamb, tacking at intervals * •* *• * * * * * while twirling/winding ribbon to make curly ‘grass.’ * * = 215C Ant. Copper 9. Glue two turquoise blue Whimsy Glass Beads to head of the lamb * * * * * * * * * * = DMC 3821 Straw at ( • • ) for eyes.
