Protesters rushed the hallways of buildings with megaphones, calling fellow students to join in. Students and facul- ty held a rally in the Peace Garden, sharing personal stories of hardships they faced in response to budget cuts at the university. The protest finished at the Henry Madden Library, where more than 80 activists staged a sit-in at the Haak Center, demanding to speak with university President John D. Welty. Eventually, Welty appeared at the Haak Center to listen to the group. He agreed to set up a meeting with students, scheduled for Nov. 3.
