Senior Manager – Product Engineering Senior Manager – Product Engineering FUNCTION: Incumbent is responsible for the following functions within the Product and Marketing organization: • Lead the product development process from ideation, implementation, execution, launch and post launch management for all phases, working successfully cross-functionally with all Mahindra and Suppliers/Partners at every level • Assist in tactical plans w.r.t. Short term and long term product portfolio strategy and planning including identifying existing product portfolio gaps with engineering solutions • Work closely with Product Management for coordinating new product development from ideation to launch with key engagement during design, development & application testing phase. • Key engineering point of contact for OEM suppliers both domestic North America and Overseas • Working closely with Product Management Function to keep abreast with competitive intelligence reports - product range, features, benefits pricing, positioning… • Provide engineering support for the development of product sales & training materials • Coordinate with suppliers and outside agencies regarding product safety issues • Works closely with all functions, Sales, Marketing, Production, Suppliers, Quality, Service, Parts, and Operations as required. • Work closely with Validation function to ensure feedback capturing & closure • Assist After Sales Team in working on problem resolutions on all products Incumbent will work closely with all MUSA departments to ensure successful management, launch and execution of product and business plans. GOAL: To provide product development and engineering expertise to MUSA and all OEMs suppliers for development and launch of products for the North America market. Senior Manager – Product Engineering REQUIREMENTS: 12-14 years of experience in a similar role. BS/BA/BE in an appropriate discipline within the field of Engineering required. In-depth knowledge of North American tractor industry and technology, or closely related industry such as lawn & garden, UTV, snow removal, farm implements/attachments, or OEM engines is desired. Work closely with Production Department to create SOPs for assembly of new products. Supervise initial product assembly, Job One, from start to finish. Report any assembly discrepancies to OEM. Work for creating Material Codes & BOMs for all new products. Work with Partners on Innovations in the current & new products to attain first mover advantages in the industry. Work with Validation Function to derive plans and ensure adherence and closure to launch First Time Right Products. Work on Value Analysis & Value Engineering to continuously seek Product Value Enhancement with Partners. Work with Compliance & Safety Agencies including but not limited to ASABE, EPA, CARB, EC to ensure compliance as needed with help of Legal & Validation team. Work closely with Quality Department to ensure all technical specifications are met during assembly. Coordinate with Product Management to ensure all technical specifications are accurately defined in all brochures, literature, training materials, and other printed documents. Experience in the following elements required: • Ability to develop professional business plans. • Excellent quantitative analysis skills. • Excellent presentation, training and communication skills. • Must be able to speak, read, and write English. • Ability to evaluate and negotiate vendor quotes, services, and quality. • Ability to read mechanical blueprints and understand technical specifications. • New product development, from ideation to product launch. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP. • 25-50% travel. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
