Pre And Post FieLd triPs FT7 BeLgiAn CLAssiCs: the PALAeozoiC oF southern BeLgium And northern FrAnCe IPC5 This three-days field trip will be dedicated to the Devonian-Carboniferous succession of Belgium (Namur-Dinant Basin). The sedimentary successions of southern Belgium and northern France display a large range of siliciclastic and carbonate facies, including several types of carbonate mounds. This classical area was historically used for Palaeozoic geology and palaeontology and it is here that numerous historical stages have been recognized, and some officially ratified by the International Union of Geological Sciences, including the Givetian, Frasnian, Famennian, Tournaisian, and Visean. SCHEDULE 15-17 JULY 2018: Day 1 July 15th: Departure from Lille in the morning (meeting point at the Lille-Flandres railwaystation) for a three complete days excursion , including 2 nights in Belgium (Namur and/or Dinant). Day 3 July 17th: Return to Lille at the end of the afternoon.
