:zyxwvutsrqponmlkjihgfedcbaZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA STANDING ORDER NO. 51 UNIFORM REGULA.TIONS OF DELHI POLICE INTRODUCTION It has been noticed that sometimes there is lack of uniformity in the dress worn on different occasions by the officers ofDelhi Police. It has also been observed that police personnel on duty in uniform are improperly dressed or wear uniform not in conformity with the approved muster pattern. Adetermined effortis required to be made by all officers to ensure that the uniform worn by the members of the force on law and order duties, on guards, on parades and on ceremonial and special occasions are of the approved pattern as laid down under the Rules. This Standing Order is being issued in order to remove any confusion and ambiguity regarding wearing of uniform on different occasions. Unless otherwise directed, these instructions should be strictly followed by all members of Delhi Police.zyxwvutsrqponmlkjihgfedcbaZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA PATTERN OF UNIFORM PA.RT-l :- GAZETTED OFFICERS (MEN/WOMEN) The officers of Indian Police Service and of NCTof Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli Police Service shall wear the uniform as prescribed under the Indian Police Service Rules, 1954. However, the latter's uniform is modified as per their appointment letter issued by Ministry of Home affairs, Govt. ofIndia, New Delhi's letter No. 14016/15/2006-UTS-II GOI,MHAdated 11.12.2006. Their dress regulations willbe as under:- Part 1 A. WINTER UNIFORM i) Working Blue beret/Peak cap with brown strap and cap badge (Sikh male Officersshall wear khaki turban), Serge khaki trousers and Angola khaki shirt (with or without jersey), shoulder badges according to their rank, brown leather belt, khaki woollen socks, Brown derby shoes (with toe cap), blue lanyard with brass whistle and medal ribbons. D.P. emblem on left bicep, Plastic name plate (Bi- lingual-Hindi and English) in white letters on black background (for Selection Grade DCP & above embroidered in Zari on black background). While carrying arms on duty, the holster of the weapon should be ofbrown leather with a blue cord which should be compulsory. H) lP'aJ.Jrade Same as 1 A (i)above except that Sam browne ankle boots to be worn by those participating in the parade, rest of those attending the parade willwear brown derby shoes( with toe cap). 139 Hi] General Parade Same as 1A(i}&zyxwvutsrqponmlkjihgfedcbaZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA(ii) above except that Sam Browne Belt will be worn instead of brown leather belt. iv) Ceremonial - Review Order Peak cap with brown strap and cap badge (Sikh male Officers will wear khaki turban), Shirt-Angola-khaki(with or without jersey}, khaki cotton drill trouser, Sam Browne belt, khaki woolen socks, brown ankle boots to be worn by those participating in the parade, rest of those attending the parade will wear brown derby shoes (with toe cap), medals & decorations and blue lanyard with brass whistle, D.P. emblem on left bicep, plastic name plate in white letters on black background (for selection grade DCP and above embroidered in zari on black background) and neck scarf of approved pattern. v) Mess Dress: (I) Black buttoned-up short coat with black trousers/lounge suit unless otherwise ordered. (2) Plain black leather derby shoes with plain toe-caps. vi) P.T. White T-Shirt, Khaki woolen jersey, White TC Trousers, White woolen Socks, Sports shoe white, white patka for Sikh male Officers. N.B. See Rule 38 and 39 of The IPS (Uniform) Rules, 1954- regarding (Annexure 1&11): I) Special Provisions for women officers. II) Alternative uniform for lady officers in advanced stage of pregnancy. Part 1 B. SUMMERUNIFORM i] WOll'lldng Same as Part IA (i)except that they will wear Khaki T.C. or cotton trousers and shirt (Sleeves rolled) and Nylon khaki socks. ii) Parade Same as IB(i}above except that brown ankle boots to be worn by those participating in the parade, rest of those attending the parade will wear brown derby shoes (with toe cap). iii) General Parade Same as IB(i}& (ii) above except that Sam Browne belt will be worn instead of brown leather belt. Iv] CCll'emoniai - Review Order Same as in Part I A(iv)except Cotton drill khaki trousers, khaki cellular shirt (sleeves rolled) and khaki nylon socks. 140 v) M esszyxwvutsrqponmlkjihgfedcbaZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA 1. White buttoned-up short coat with White trousers/lounge suit unless otherwise ordered. 2. Plain black leather derby shoes with plain toe-caps.zyxwvutsrqponmlkjihgfedcbaZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA vi) P.T. White T-Shirt, WhiteTCTrousers, White nylon Socks, Sports shoes white, White-parka for Sikh male Officers. N.B.See Rule 38 and 39 of The IPS (Uniform)Rules, 1954 (Annexure I &11) regarding.- I) Special Provisions for women officers. II) Alternative uniform for lady officers in advanced stage of pregnancy. General Instructions i) When mounted, breeches (khaki strechlon) and field boots will be worn instead of khaki drill trousers and ankle boots. ii) Swords willbe carried only on formal occasions and on ceremonial parades. Specific orders should be issued by.Senior Officers on the occasion, regarding the wearing of swords. iii) Wearing of only the approved pattern of leather belt is allowed on Parade, as well as with Working Dress. iv) The carrying of a baton when in uniform is optional. v) The wearing of Sam Browne belt is compulsory when the CP, Delhi or other Flag Officers are to attend the parade, also while officers reporting on duty on first assignment after completion of training and while calling on Senior Officers on first posting and also on reporting on transfer. vi) Only IPS officers of the rank of Selection Grade and above are authorized to wear embroidered crest on their Peak/Beret cap. vii) Ceremonial Dress willbe worn on the under mentioned occasions, or when specificallyordered, only by those who actually participate in the investiture ceremony or are to be introduced to or are to receive a dignitary: a. Republic Day Parade - 26th January b. Independence Day Parade - 15th August c. Police Commemoration Day Parade - 21 October d. Investiture Ceremonies. e. Passing out OR Attestation Parade. f. Farewell Parade of The Commissioner of Police, Delhi. g. Delhi Police Raising Day. (16th Feb.) viii) General Parade Dress will be worn on the following occasions unless otherwise ordered: a. Funeral Parade. b. Inspections. 141 PART 2: UPPER SUBORDINATES - MEN/WOMEN (EXECUTIVE) Part 2 A WINTER UNIFORMzyxwvutsrqponmlkjihgfedcbaZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA (i) Working uniform Khaki beret cap with red chindi/Peak cap and DP Cap badge (Sikh Male Officerswillwear khaki turban), Serge Khaki Trousers & Shirt full sleeves (with or without Jersey), khaki lanyard with brass whistle, DP title shoulder badge, Stars according to rank with shoulder cloth ribbon (Red & Blue), Plastic Name plate (bilingual-Hindi,English) in black letters on white background with Rank, DP emblem on left bicep, medal ribbons, Cane stick (Optional), leather belt, Oxford Shoes (brown coloured belt & shoes for Inspector rank officers and black for SIs & ASIs) and woollen khaki socks. (ii) Parade Same as 2 A(i}abovewith leather ankle boots (brown for Inspectors and black forzyxwvutsrqponmlkjihgfedcbaZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBASII ASI)will be worn by those participating in the parade while the rest shall wear Oxford shoes unless otherwise ordered. (iii) General Parade Same as 2A(i}& (ii)above except that leather cross-belt (brown for Inspectors and black for SI/ ASI) shall be worn. [iv] Ceremonial Parade Same as in 2 A(iii}above,except Cotton KDtrousers, Angola khaki Shirt, four inch wide Kamarband ofblue & red with khaki stripes, Medals, decorations and Zari Name Plate with golden letters on blue background for those participating in the parade shall be worn. [v] P.T. (a) Men: White woolen vest (half sleeves), Jersey woolen khaki, KD Shorts, Khaki Woolen Socks and White Sports shoes (Sikh male Officers will wear white patka). (b) Women: Light blue Track Suit with dark blue stripe on the sides, white T.Shirt (with 3 front buttons, high collar and D.P. monogram printed on the front). White sports shoes and blue nylon socks. 142 Part 2 B SUMMER UNIFORM (i) Working Same as 2A(i) above, except that khaki TC trousers and shirt (sleeves rolled) and khaki nylon socks shall be worn. (ii) Parade Same as 2B(i)zyxwvutsrqponmlkjihgfedcbaZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA& 2A(ii) above. (iii) General parade Same as 2B(i) & 2B(ii) above except that leather cross-belt will be worn (brown for Inspectors and black for SI/ ASI). Ceremonial Same as in 2A(iv)above except that khaki cotton cellular shirt (Sleeves rolled) and khaki nylon socks shall be worn. (v) P.T. (a) Men: Same as in 2 A (v) (a) above except that white cotton vest (half sleeves) and Khaki nylon socks shall be worn. (b) Women: Same as in 2 A (v) (b). General Instructions: 1. The leather strap in the Peak cap of Inspectors shall be brown, and black for SIs/ ASIs. 2. Inspectors will wear DP title shoulder badges with three stars alongwith red and blue cloth ribbons while SIs & ASIs will wear two stars and one star respectively with DP shoulder badge and red and blue ribbons (the star should be five pointed-dotted-silver colour) and one point will be vertical towards the collar. 3. Male trainees will wear khaki drill shorts instead of khaki drill trousers on parade. 4. While carrying weapon on duty, a khaki safety cord and holster (brown for Inspectors and black for SI/ ASI) shall be worn. S. In extremely cold weather, winter jackets
