Place dried "egeta!le0fruit chips or her!s in a coffee grinder or !lender and grind until you ha"e a fine powder. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 year. &ow to 'ake %oncentrated iquid &omemade +ood %oloring 6nother option for ma&ing a more concentrated dye is to reduce a deeply colored li'uid# such as beet +uice or the +uice from purple sweet potatoes# into a syrup. This will allow you to ma&e more "i"id colors without affecting the fla"or or texture 'uite as much. To ma&e a concentrate# place about 1 cup of freshly s'uee7ed +uice o"er "ery low heat. The only way I8"e been a!le to do this successfully is with a mini1crockpot. 9ea"e the lid off the pot so the li'uid can e"aporate and heat until the +uice begins to thicken and drips slowly off a spoon rather than running off easily# about 24 hours# gi"e or ta&e ; hours depending on your climate and pot.
