MSGR. W. RONALD JAMESON, V.F. Msgr. Jameson was raised in Hughesville, MD and studied at St. Charles College High School, St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore and the Theological College of the Catholic University of America. Msgr. Jameson was eventually ordained in 1968. Following his ordination, he completed two assignments in Maryland parishes, followed by an assign- ment for St. Matthew's Cathedral (1974- 1985). Msgr. Jameson has served God in many ways. He has achieved many titles, assumed positions for a variety of archdiocesan posi- tions and served or serves on multiple na- tional boards. In October 2007, Theological College bestowed on Msgr. Jameson its Alumnus Lifetime Service Award honoring him as Pastor-Leader of the Faith Communi- ty due to his many archdiocesan positions and his outstanding service to God. His legacy to St. Matthew's Cathedral will undoubtedly be his enduring interest in building parish community, establishing a parish archive and history project, orches- trating the Cathedral's major restoration project and the construction of the adjoining rectory and office building project on Rhode Island Avenue (1998-2006). *NOTE: The "V.F." after Msgr Jameson's name denotes that he is appointed by the Archbishop as a Vicar Forane or Dean of one of the ecclesial subdivisions (i.e. deanery) of the Archdiocese. SAMPLE DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY DAY 1, WED, APR 23: DEPART WASHINGTON TO PRAGUE Depart Washington for an overnight flight to Prague. Dinner and breakfast are served on board DAY 2, THUR, APR 24: ARRIVAL PRAGUE Welcome to Prague, one of the most beautifully preserved cities in Europe. Your tour director is at the airport to warmly greet you and soon to be comfortably settled at your hotel. After arrival, you will be transported to your hotel for check In. Celebrate Holy Mass, followed by free time to rest and settle in. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Prague. DAY 3, FRI, APR 25: IN PRAGUE Breakfast at the hotel. Situated on the Vltava River, Prague is capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. Today we will enjoy a sightseeing tour of Prague which will include visits to The Strahov Monastery, The Lore- to Shrine (here we will celebrate Mass), Prague Castle district where we tour St. Vitus Cathedral, St. George Basilica. Free time for lunch (not included). This afternoon we make our way across the Charles Bridge to see the market square, the famous astronomical clock which comes alive when the hour strikes and the twelve disciplines appear to bless the crowd, Powder Tower and St. Wenceslas Square. Enjoy some free time for shopping and personal activities. Dinner and overnight at our hotel this evening. DAY 4, SAT, APR 26: PRAGUE Mass at the Church of Our Lady Victorious and see the renowned statue of The Infant Jesus of Prague. The remainder of the day is at leisure to discover the magnificent cobble stone streets of this historic city. This evening we will enjoy folklore show and dinner at local restaurant. DAY 5, SUN, APR 27: PRAGUE – BILA HORA (WHITE MOUNTAIN) – PRAGUE After breakfast, we depart to visit Svaty Hora (The White Mountain) one of the highest places in Prague, named due to the mining of the arenaceous marl. We visit Church of the Virgin Mary the Victorious, built as a baroque pilgrimage church with the dome, side cloisters and corner chapels devoted to St. Vojtech and St. John of Nepomuk. Mass at the shrine. Return to Prague and the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner at hotel. DAY 6, MON, APR 28: PRAGUE – PRACHATICE – SALZBURG After breakfast, we depart for our scenic motorcoach ride to the enchanting city of Salzburg. On the way we stop in Prachatice and visit Neumann residence, Prachatice museum, St. James Church, Church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Enjoy some time at leisure for lunch (not included), before we proceed to Salzburg. Check-in at the hotel and evening at leisure. Dinner at our hotel. DAY 7, TUE, APR 29: SALZBURG This morning explore the lovely Salzburg, including a visit to the fortress above the city, as well as Mozart’s house. Stop off to see the statue of the Christ of Loreto, where we will celebrate Mass. We continue our tour with visits to The Domplatz with The Salzburg Cathedral, St. Peter’s Abbey (the oldest monastery in the Ger- man speaking world), Franziskanerkirche and the Getreidegasse lane. This afternoon we relive the true story of the Von Trapp family which was filmed as the ‘Sound of Music’ famous movie. We will see the highlights and film locations such as the Palace of Leopoldskron, The Gazebo at the Palace of Hellbrunn, The Abbey of Nonnberg, St. Gilgen/ Lake Wolfgang and the Collegiate Church of Mondsee. Dinner at hotel. DAY 8, WED, APR 30: SALZBURG – HALLEIN SALT MINES – SALZBURG Mass celebration at the Shrine of Maria Plain. Afterwards we visit the famous Salt Mines at Hellein with a visit into its many man made tunnels. The Hellein Salt are among the oldest salt mines in the world. More than about 2,500 years ago the celts were already mining this precious gift of the mountain, which is proved by the impressive traces they have left behind. Return to Salzburg where you will have some free time. Dinner at our hotel. DAY 9, THUR, MAY 1: SALZBURG – MARIA TAFAREL – MELK ABBEY – VIENNA After breakfast, we leave Salzburg behind, as we drive to visit The Shrine of Maria Taferl, built in 1660, it is the most important pilgrimage destination in all of Austria. Following, stop in Durenstein to visit the little vil- lage on the banks of the Danube River, before we make our way to the Melk Abbey and the Stiftskirche, one of the finest baroque buildings in the world. Melk has been a spiritual and cultural center of the country for more than 1000 years, first as a castle for the Babenbergs, then from 1089 as a Benedictine Monastery, founded by Margrave Leopold II. This afternoon we arrive Vienna. Dinner at our hotel. DAY 10, FRI, MAY 2: VIENNA After breakfast at your hotel we will celebrate Mass in St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Following Mass, we will start a sightseeing tour of Vienna, featuring a panoramic tour of the famous ring, walk of the old town and passing some major monuments such as Donners Fountain, Belvedere Palace and Hofburg Palace. Enjoy some free time for lunch (not included). In the afternoon, visit the Imperial Palace of Schoenbrunn, with its adjacent buildings and vast gardens. Enjoy the visit of the residential palace with its furniture, fixtures and fittings that impressively reflect the lifestyle of the imperial family. The attractiveness of the palace lies in its largely origi- nal interior from the 18th century, as well as in the baroque garden landscape which remains scarcely al- tered. Dinner at the hotel and overnight. DAY 11, SAT, MAY 3: VIENNA – MARIAZELL – VIENNA We travel to Mariazell, the famed Shrine of Our Lady of Mariazell, the most-visited Marian Shrine in central Europe. Mariazell is nestled high in the alpine moun- tains of Austria, offering a breathtaking view of the imposing alps. Mass today will be celebrated at The Basilica. Return to Vienna, where the rest of the day is at leisure. Enjoy dinner tonight at a typical local heu- rigen restaurant. DAY 12, SUN, MAY 4: FLIGHT VIENNA TO WASHINGTON Following breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our flight home. Though our pilgrimage is ending the beauty of the magnificent places we have visited, the friendships, blessings and graces will last a lifetime.
