Roberts Lodge That Gives offers accommodations to patients and their families living more than 50 kilometers away from the cancer treatment centre in Halifax. Nova Scotia cancer patients stay free of charge and meals are provided at no cost. There is no charge for a parent or a guardian staying with a child or an escort required by a transplant patient. Family members and/or support persons can stay for $85.00 per night. This fee covers the cost of the room and three meals per day. If booking for the first time at the Lodge That Gives, a referral must be sent to the Lodge from a Booking Clerk at the QEII Cancer Care Program, a Family Physician, an Oncologist or a Cancer Patient Navigator. If you have stayed at the Lodge in the last 6 months, you can make reservations by phone. You may arrive the night before your appointment and are welcome to stay one night after your appointment, if needed. Limited parking is available. The Sobey Cancer Support Centre also offers internet, hairdressing, wig fitting, support groups, and supportive care programming such as restorative yoga. Point Pleasant Lodge 1121 South Park Street (902) 421-1599 Less than 1 km to the Cancer Centre Point Pleasant Lodge is located one block from the QEII Health Sciences Centre. It is within walking distance of the hospital. Patients receiving treatment at the QEII Health Sciences Centre can stay at Point Pleasant Lodge for free during their treatment. 1 The reservation must be made by a Booking Clerk at the QEII Cancer Care Program. Additional charges apply for a family member ($40.25 per night), unless a person is confirmed to be an “essential escort” by the Booking Clerk at the time of the reservation. You must contact Point Pleasant Lodge before 10:00 a.m. on the day of your arrival to confirm your reservation. There is limited parking at Point Pleasant Lodge. The cost of parking is $12/day plus tax. Parking is available on a first come, first served basis. Most of the rooms are double rooms. Patients who are staying at the lodge on their own may be asked to share a double room with someone of the same gender. There is a charge for meals. Meal vouchers for cancer patients and essential escorts are available through your clinic. The meal vouchers can be used at either Point Pleasant Lodge or the hospital cafeteria. Patients from New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island are given a daily meal allowance for their entire stay. Accommodations: Under $50 per night CFB Halifax, Windsor Park Connaught Avenue (902) 427-7788 or 1-888-753-8827 4.3 km to the Cancer Centre Cancer patients who have a family member who is currently serving (not veterans) in the military are eligible to access short term, low cost accommodation at CFB Halifax, Windsor Park; limited number of two bedroom, furnished apartments, with kitchenettes, full bath and a pull out coach. Those booking are responsible for their own groceries and meal preparation. One parking pass is provided. Generally bookings are limited to one week. And rates range to a maximum of $30/night - fees may be waived. Patients must call to book a room, (902) 427-7788 or 1-888-753-8827, they should ask to speak to the Intake Social Worker. They will need to provide their family members service number and reason for accommodation. For patients who can afford it, there is a suggested donation of $40 per night. 2 Transportation may be available for patients.
