Its early growth was due largely to three of the founders: C.E. Gen. Robert R. Neyland Condredge Holloway Jackson Jr., Charlie Sons and the Rev. A. Richard Smith. 1967 1994 In 1994, the State Legislature, under the leadership of Speaker of the House Jimmy Naifeh Nathan W. Dougherty Bill Anderson and Lt. Gov. John Wilder, along with Rep. Lindsey Nelson Ed Molinski The creation of the Act began a new era in the history of the Sports Hall of Fame. A Board 1968 1995 of Directors was founded composed of 25 Tennessee citizens, eight each appointed by the John Barnhill Charles Rosenfelder Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, and the Speaker of the House. The 25th member of the Bob Foxx Abe Shires Board is the State Treasurer or his designee. No more than eight of the appointed members 1969 1996 shall reside in a grand division of the state.
