The greatness of our organization really comes from each of you that are out there doing your part to contribute to baseball in your community. This means volunteering your time, be it small or large, to help your Association create a safe place for athletes to develop their baseball skills while learning the life and leadership skills to become an important part of society in the future. 2019 The 2018 season brought a huge milestone for us as we had 18,083 HANDBOOK members, breaking through 18,000 players for the first time in our history. This represents an increase of 1.15% in registration compared to 2017 and with the addition of new members from Zone 1, we can also now say that we have registration from across the entire province. The record participation Publisher: Suggitt Publishing numbers came with the challenge of scheduling a record 4,413 games. I Editor: Board of Directors am pleased to say that the entire office staff stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park, delivering an exceptional job with the limited experience they had. Graphic Designers: With this growth of athletes, umpires have been a focus area for us to service the officiating needs of Cailey Welk & Kate Suggitt baseball. We had 923 umpires registered in 2018, up from 797 in 2017, and we provided 27 NUCP Level 1 clinics at locations throughout the province. This meant we had the resources to provide quality umpires throughout the season and for a record 46 tournaments over a three weekend period, during the Provincial Championship weekends. TABLE OF The training doesn’t stop with the umpires. We continue to develop coaches at all levels with 88 coaches registered towards getting their Regional or Provincial NCCP certification, and 1002 participants at 72 NCCP clinics in 16 different communities across the province. We will continue to support and grow our CONTENTS NCCP and NUCP programs as important building blocks of our sport. We also created and funded a Girls/Women Baseball Technical Coordinator role to drive recruitment, Board of Directors.......................... retention, and development of female athletes. We had 2433 female players in 2018 and hope we will 7 continue to grow female participation in baseball year to year. One of the largest challenges for all of our Member Associations in 2019 and onward continues to be Umpire Committee.........................7 ensuring that we have enough baseball facilities and maintaining these facilities to support growth of the sport. We continued with our Facility Grant Program and, after having 17 applications asking for $119,000, we managed to invest $60,000 into 8 Association’s facilities in 2018. We will continue with 2019 Baseball Alberta Fees...........13 this program for 2019 and hope that we have even more applicants. I would like to welcome all new members to our baseball family and look forward to a successful 2019. 2019 Provincial Champions...........
