This event, hosted by the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association (MFTHBA) Membership Committee, is designed to provide Missouri Fox Trotting Horse enthusiasts an opportunity to see some of the most distinguished stallions in our breed, along with some exciting up and coming stallions. Most importantly, it is designed to help people connect and enjoy a day completely focused on this amazing breed. The idea for the Tour began when results for the MFTHBA Membership Committee survey indicated that MFTHBA members and those involved with the breed wanted to see activities outside the traditional horse activities. In addition, they expressed an interest in learning more about the breed, assistance with marketing and to increase Missouri Fox Trotting Horse registrations. From those ideas and suggestions, the Stallion Tour was born. As breeders ourselves, we know the difficulty in matching a mare to the perfect stallion. It is often hard to judge a horse simply based on watching them in the show ring, looking at their papers or listening to what people have to say about them. The best way to judge a stallion is often seeing them in person. Several years ago, we took our own stallion tour; driving from barn to barn over a two day period. With that effort and expense, we were able to visit five barns and see eight stallions. The Stallion Tour takes that same idea and super sizes it into a one-day event with unprecedented participation by stallions. We are incredibly thankful to all the participating stallion for their enthusiasm and commitment to not only the Stallion Tour but to promoting the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse. This Tour has also provided us an opportunity to work with some amazing sponsors, without whom this tour would not have been possible. Lastly, thank you to the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association Board of Directors for their support, encouragement and feedback.
