HURRICANE ETA UPDATE from LEE COUNTY GOVERNMENT Fort

HURRICANE ETA UPDATE FROM LEE COUNTY GOVERNMENT Fort Myers, FL, Nov. 11, 2020 – Lee County Emergency Management continues to monitor Hurricane Eta and is encouraging residents to drive carefully today and monitor websites for the National Weather Service, National Hurricane Center and local media outlets for weather updates. The county is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning, a Storm Surge Watch and a Tornado Watch for Eta. The area will see gusty conditions, additional rainfall and higher than normal coastal tides over the next 24 hours. The center of the storm still is expected to remain off Southwest Florida’s coast as it moves north, but with most of the severe weather being on the east side of the eye, Lee County will see wind and rain bands with tropical storm force gusts, especially along coastal areas. Tornado Watches may be issued for parts of Lee County throughout this weather event. There is no State of Local Emergency in effect for Lee County. County operations remain normal; please note offices are closed today in observance of Veterans Day. The Florida Division of Emergency Management’s COVID-19 testing site at CenturyLink is weather dependent and will open and close intermittently today due to weather.
