Cumbria County Council Information Governance Team Cumbria House 107-117 Botchergate Carlisle CA1 1RZ T: 01228 221234 E: [email protected] E-mail: 24 November 2016 Your reference: Our reference: FOI 2016-0961 Dear FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - DISCLOSURE The council has completed its search relating to your request for information about two roads CCC is responsible for maintaining, which was received on 04 October 2016. The council does hold information within the definition of your request. Request Please can you send me: 1) A copy of your current road maintenance policy relating to these two roads. Please send me the full policy, but this should include details of the intended frequency of road safety inspections, how these inspections should be conducted and the maximum time between identification of a defect and repairs being carried out. 2) A copy of the road repair history for these two roads over the past two years. Again, please send me the full road repair history, but this should include: - dates of all safety inspections during 2015 and 2016. - details of how safety inspections were undertaken (walked or driven, speed of inspection vehicle etc) - details of all carriageway defects identified, with description, date and time - details of how the Authority handled these defects, what repairs were undertaken and the time between the identification of each defect and a repair being carried out. Response Enclosed are copies of the road inspections for 2015 and 2016 for the C2051 Moor Row to Kelsick and the C2052 Waverbridge to Dundraw. The inspections were carried out from a slow moving vehicle. Defects identified: C2051 08.07.15 was a CAT1 defect and was repaired the same day. C2051 18.07.16 - Two CAT2 defects were identified one was repaired and the other monitored and re- visited. C2052 08.07.15 CAT2 Defect likely to be monitored and re-visited within 3 – 6 months. C2052 18.07.16 - Two CAT2 defects identified both repaired the same day. All of this information can be found in the supplied inspection files. Area Team 4 generally use 10mm surface coarse from Cemex in Carlisle so most of their repairs will be using this, this allows them to carry out pothole repairs and to overlay certain carriageway sections if this is more suitable. At times when material is no available from the quarry they will typically use 10mm delayed set tarmacadam which they collect from the highways depot. Defects are handled as per the attached service procedure. Serving the people of Cumbria cumbria.gov.uk Cumbria County Council Copies of call centre reports and the subsequent repair history for these two roads for the period 01/10/15 to 04/10/16 are attached.
