March 2, 2016 For Immediate Release RJD2 Presents “We Come Alive” Featuring Son Little, New Single Off Dame Fortune, out March 25th on RJ’s Electrical Connections https://soundcloud.com/officialrjd2/06-we-come-alivefeaturing-son-little/s-q00mh (RJD2 image by Nick Fancher) Dame Fortune, the sixth studio album by veteran producer and cratedigger extraordinaire RJD2, is streaked with Philadelphia’s reputation for deeply felt soul music while maintaining a playful sense of adventurousness. No song better represents this than the album’s slinky centerpiece, “We Come Alive” featuring Son Little (aka Aaron Livingston). Working together in various entities, most recently the duo’s Icebird project, the producer and guest vocalist have a creative connection easily recognized by the strength of this standout single. As described by RJ, “Our musical tastes are very similar—he can go from Black Sabbath to Dennis Brown and not miss a beat. We work very well together." Dame Fortune was recorded over the past year while living in Philadelphia before RJD2 moved back to his hometown of Columbus, Ohio. In addition to Son Little, the thought-provoking, yet deliciously entertaining album features guest vocals by Jordan Brown, Blueprint and frequent collaborator Phonte, while also presenting the bombastic hip-hop sound that marked RJD2's breakthrough album, Deadringer, and even an orchestral composition for the societal unrest experienced in this day and age. Dame Fortune is out March 25th on RJ’s Electrical Connections. iTunes pre-orders come with instant grat downloads of “Peace of What,” “The Sheboygan Left,” and “We Come Alive” featuring Son Little. After the song temporarily tapers off, guitars returns to guide another instrumental rise, which bursts again with exuberant exaltation.” — Rolling Stone on “The Sheboygan Left” “The cut is bursting with positive vibes, first via a friendly, early '70s-style roll of Rhodes organs and locked-grooved beats. Making it even sunnier are a big blast of brass, a chorus of doo wop ‘ahhhs’ and a busy blitz of typewriter clack electronics.” — Exclaim on “The Sheboygan Left” “‘Peace Of What’ is rich with a big, full band of strings and horns and singer Jordan Brown’s evocative verses about the modern-day state of the world.” — SPIN “[’The Sheboygan Left’] begins with big drums and a whomping bassline before opening up into synth sweeps, big band horns, and vocal wails. A percussive breakdown then comes in about halfway through with wildly weird cosmic synths before chicken grease guitar careens through the ozone with huge crashing cymbals. Dame Fortune is shaping up to be a very funky ride.” — Stereogum RJD2 TOUR DATES: Sun. March 18 – Austin, TX @ The Blackheart Bar Fri. March 18 - Lancaster, PA @ Chameleon Club Fri.
