Galerie Lelong & Co. Paris – New York John Coplans John Coplans was born in 1920. He died in 2003. Coplans was an artist and a British photographer, emigrated to U.S. in 1960. He was first director of several museums, including the Museum of Akron, Ohio. Then in 1980 he moved to New York where he devoted himself to photography. John Coplans is famous for his series of black and white self-portraits, studies of the naked body and aging.
