FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Delafield, WI – The Alonzo Cushing Medal of Honor has arrived in Delafield. The Medal of Honor will be displayed at St. John's Northwestern Military Academy following a formal ceremony tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. on the Academy's parade field. The press are invited to attend the event. The descendants of Alonzo Cushing have agreed to allow the Medal of Honor to be displayed in Delafield before and during the Memorial Weekend Celebration of the 100 th Anniversary of the Cushing memorial. The Medal of Honor was received yesterday in Delafield by Mayor Michele DeYoe from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Alonzo Cushing was awarded the Medal of Honor in a White House ceremony on November 6, 2014. Cushing received the Medal of Honor posthumously for his actions while serving as commanding officer of Battery A, 4th United States Artillery, Artillery Brigade, 2nd Corps, Army of the Potomac. Cushing distinguished himself during combat operations against an armed enemy in the vicinity of Cemetery Ridge, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on July 3, 1863.
