TECHNICAL SHEET GELATINIZED AGUAJE AND RED MACA POWDER IN CAPSULES 1. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: The aguaje fruit and the red maca are subjected to washing, disinfected, chopped, dehydrated, pulverized and sifted, after that they are mixed 50:50. 1. SCIENTIFIC NAME: Mauritia flexuosa and Lepidium meyenii Walp, Red variety. 2. USED PARTS: Fruit of Aguaje and hypocotyl of Red Maca. 3. HARMONIZED CODE: CAPSULES 2106.90.71.00 4. ORIGIN AND DISTRIBUTION: It is a native Amazonian species, probably native to the basins of the Huallaga, Marañón and Ucayali rivers in Peru. Reaches 35 m. of height, its fruit is elliptic of 5-7 cm. long and 4-5 cm. wide. It adapts to the hot and humid tropical climate and poorly drained soil or flooded soil. The maca, is an Andean crop which is developed in a very restricted area of the central Andes of Peru (Cerro de Pasco, Junín, Tarma, Jauja, Concepción and Huancayo). This crop was domesticated about 2000 years ago in a climate of low temperatures and strong winds that limit the production of other crops, because it is between 4000 and 5500 meters above sea level in limestone and clay lands.
