You may recognize them from the Netflix show, A Series of Unfortunate Events. COVID-19 VACCINATION PROGRAM VCH expands COVID-19 clinic capacity for those requiring first dose Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is expanding COVID-19 vaccination appointment capacity at several of its sites and offering drop-in spots to support the ongoing delivery of COVID-19 vaccinations. VCH strongly encourages eligible people in our region aged 12 and older, who haven’t received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, to book an appointment today or to drop-in to one of its convenient locations for easy access to same-day appointments, with managed wait times. These are for first doses only. People aged 70 years of age and older (those born in 1951 or earlier) may attend a drop-in clinic, listed below, for first or second doses. All are welcome at our clinics, including those without personal health numbers and people who are not residents of B.C. Staff will be available on-site to help people register and book appointments at other clinics throughout the region if needed, and can help answer all vaccine-related questions. For people who are now eligible for second doses, appointments at all other clinics are available through the provincial online platform or call centre after residents register for a COVID-19 vaccine at www.gov.bc.ca/getvaccinated. For people living in Metro Vancouver with transportation or mobility challenges, VCH is working with community groups, housing societies and transportation providers (TransLink, HandyDART and BC Transit) to assist getting to and from a COVID-19 vaccination clinic. Requests for transportation support must be made at least three days in advance of your vaccination appointment. To request transportation support, visit: http://www.vch.ca/vaccinationtransportation. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place at all Vancouver Coastal Health COVID-19 vaccination clinics. Visitors are reminded to wear a short-sleeve shirt as the vaccine will be delivered to the upper arm. Everyone receiving a vaccine will be monitored for 15 minutes following their appointment. Questions? Check out our COVID-19 vaccine page for FAQs → MEDICAL STAFF (PHYSICIANS, NURSE PRACTITIONERS, MIDWIVES AND DENTISTS) Q&A: Vaccination of people who have recovered from COVID-19 Q: Should people who have had COVID-19 still get vaccinated? A: The National Advisory Committee of Canada (NACI) recommends vaccinating people who have had COVID-19, which we have been doing so. However, there is more incoming evidence that shows people who have been previously are protected against future infection. There have been instances where patients who were previously infected with COVID-19 experienced reactions to first vaccine doses and do not want to get their second. It is being considered whether this group of people should belong to a separate category. Another consideration in getting a second dose (for previously infected people) is that there could be restrictions on people based on their vaccination status in light of a potential vaccine passport. The NACI website provides more information on current vaccine statements and recommended vaccine use. More information on registering for vaccines can be found here. Medical staff Q&A were generated during the June 16 Medical Staff Forum. Answer provided by Dr. Patricia Daly. The AV recording, full transcripts and updated list of Q&As (Q&A living document) will be available later next week, and can be found on the Intranet site.
