Al centro della riflessione il complesso tema del ricambio generazionale, una valutazione del problema demografico in Italia e in Europa e un esame accurato del sistema formativo, con le sue eccellenze e le sue mancanze. Il dibattito verte poi sulla complessa questione della leadership, concentrandosi sulle ragioni e sui sistemi di selezione che impediscono alle giovani generazioni di acquisire più diffusamente posizioni di leadership nel mondo economico, industriale, accademico e politico. Nella seconda sessione i partecipanti, divisi in gruppi di interesse, riflettono su proposte operative per rinnovare la leadership in Italia e in Europa in ambiti strategici quali la politica, l’economia e il mondo universitario. I risultati dei singoli workshop vengono poi presentati in una sessione finale dedicata a proposte e strumenti necessari per creare un ambiente favorevole all’emersione di giovani leader con idee innovative e adeguate a fronteggiare le sfide della società globalizzata. Durante la conferenza viene anche discusso uno studio della Fondazione Agnelli su questi temi. .
