Agricultural marketing in India has been witnessing rapid changes in the last few decades and it is taking shift from traditional middle men oriented to direct marketing where farmers can sell their produce directly to consum- ers through direct marketing Agri-business companies. There are several thousand Agribusiness Companies procuring agricultural commodities di- rectly from the farmers across the country, however, the information asym- metry still exists especially among small and marginal farmers regarding market information based on which farmers make decisions of selling their commodities. In India, direct marketing is still in its infancy whilst in the West, it has emerged as a sophisticated system. To reduce the information gap and to assist farming community, MANAGE has made efforts to compile major direct marketing companies which are procuring agricultural commodities directly from the farmers. The directory will provide farmers, the option of large number of buyers for their produce at market places with assured price for their commodities. Direct market- ing of farm produce through farmers markets continues to be an important sales outlet for agricultural producers nationwide. The accessibility to organizations / merchants who procure the farm produce directly will help farmers to avoid middleman dominated agriculture produce marketing by which the net profit will be much higher. Farmers markets are an integral part of the urban/farm linkage and have continued to rise in popularity, mostly due to the growing consumer interest in obtaining fresh alo- cally grown, farm fresh produce, enables farmers the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with their customers, and cultivate consumer loyalty with the farmers who grows the produce. The addresses of nationwide Agribusiness Companies which are procuring farm pro- duce and their area of operation are made available in this directory. The information provided in this directory guides farmers to find the market for their produce in their region with assured price. This is to encourage farmers to act themselves as traders by finding markets suitable to their produce. The information in this directory was collected from open access online sources in- cluding varios organization’s websites as mentioned in the references at the end of this document. In addition, information was also collected from the State Marketing Boards/ Departments through official channels. Collected information from the various sources (online and offline) were cross verified by contacting the concerned persons in the organization through telephone and information is updated. The redundant and incomplete information were deleted from the directory. The directory is also available on MANAGE website for free of cost for the benfit of Farmers.
