The main objective of the project is to develop a Skilling Strategy that will contribute towards successfully addressing the main drivers of change in the maritime industry, with particular reference to shipbuilding and offshore renewable energy. These sectors are strongly linked and both require new capacities if they are to perform well and continue to grow in today’s increasingly digital, green and knowledge-driven economy. Project duration: Jan 2018 – Dec 2021 www.projectmates.eu Document information Addressing both the shipbuilding and the offshore renewable energy sectors, the present document i.e. Deliverable 2.1 “Baseline Report on present skills needs in shipbuilding and offshore renewables value chains” has a twofold objective: (a) to assess the qualifications currently offered (i.e. 2018-2019) to prospective graduates by relevant educational and training programs throughout Europe, and (b) to identify Short description current shortages and gaps, in terms of skills and competences, that the existing workforce currently present, taking into consideration the requirements of each industry. To this end, a better and deeper understanding of present skills needs can be established and a solid knowledge basis can be set up, upon which future project activities will build. Work Package WP2.
