Villagran May 12, 2019 Page 3 Fourth Sunday of Easter SHEPHERDS LIKE JESUS Each year this Fourth Sunday of Easter celebrates Jesus the Good Shepherd. Today’s Gospel seems especially timely, for as Christians worldwide suffer persecution like Paul and Barnabas, Jesus promises his sheep enduring, invincible safety: “They shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.” But we who are free to live our faith peacefully sometimes take our membership in Jesus’ flock for granted, wandering astray to seek our own pleasure and prosperity. The simple cross that Pope Francis always wears seems to show us how Jesus responds to that. Francis’ cross features an image of Jesus, who has sought and found a lost sheep, then joyfully set it on his shoulders to carry it gently home. May Good Shepherd Sunday inspire us, so often lost and found ourselves, to assist Jesus in seeking, finding, and gently carrying home our fellow precious lambs. ROAR! VBS Online Registration Now Open! Sign your children up to participate in our Vacation Bible School program, Roar! Life is Wild, God is Good, for the week of July 15-19, 2019. This will be a morning program from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Our week will be spent exploring God’s goodness and celebrate a ferocious faith that can power us through an often times wild life. This will be done through music, crafts, games, bible stories, and fun animal characters who help us remember each day’s theme. Adult volunteers are needed as well as middle school and high school students. Registration fees are $25 for participants (PK- 5th grade students) and $10 for helpers (6th-12th graders). Child care will be offered for those adult vol- unteers who have children (3 and under) that are not able to fully participate in the week’s activities. Registration is available online through Faith Direct, our online giving program. Choose the appropriate level of registration for each member of your family who is participating, fill out the form and pay online. You do not have to be a Faith Direct user to register. One registration form covers the whole family – adult volunteers, child participants and junior helpers. Go to https://membership.faithdirect.net/events/details/3060 to register today. Registration will closes June 30.
