Burloak offers first-class training programs for close to 250 members of all ages and levels of experience—from novice to world champion. The Burloak Canoe club has expanded beyond the sprint racing program to offer a wide rage of activities which are available to those in the local community. We are looking for an energetic Community Program Co-ordinator who can play an integral part in managing the success of these programs and help spread the word in the community. What your day and week could look like Reporting to the Head Coach of the canoe club, the Community Program Co-ordinator plays an essential role in the day-to-day management of the club’s recreational and community-based programs. The majority of activity will occur in the spring, summer and fall. The Burloak Community Programs dragon boat classes (surfski, SUP, rec canoe, other) tours lessons events school groups other misc. activities How you will be involved Run the online booking system (dragon boat & classes) Organize and manage other bookings (tours, lessons, events, schools, misc.) - Coordinate dates and times with Head Coach to avoid program conflicts - Arrange and track payments. - Ensure participant waivers are completed. Communicate with participants and potential participants. - Answer inquiries and questions - Provide updates and required info through club provided email address Manage staff and staff schedules - Track hours for payroll - Hire or consult on hiring BURLOAK CANOE CLUB Monitor boats & equipment for maintenance Maintain reporting on program participation and report to Head Coach - Monthly summaries for board meetings Assist with marketing efforts and coordinate club social media coverage What you will need to bring to the role Commitment to work towards established program objectives Create a positive environment for staff, members, and participants. Be responsive to demand, adjusting programs as needed (with consultation) Coordinate staff and program schedules with the Head Coach. Follow and enforce CKC Safe Sport policies Follow and enforce all Burloak club policies. Promote and represent the club in a positive way. Follow direction from the Head Coach and offer suggestions for achieving success in the programs Respond to Customer Service enquiries promptly and with enthusiasm Participate in complaint resolution Experience in sprint canoe/kayak and/or dragon boat are an asset to this role What you can expect from us Our employee experience is aimed at supporting and inspiring our team through: A passionate team dedicated to the support and empowerment of others An environment where creative, innovative thinking is encouraged Hours and compensation This is a part-time position, with an expected average of about 10 hours weekly. Hours may fluctuate seasonally or weekly depending on program needs. There will be some flexibility in scheduling work hours, as long as duties are maintained in a timely and effective manner. This position will start May 1, 2021 and end on October 31, 2021. Negotiation of start and end dates may be possible for the right candidate.
