My mission for the Northeast is transformation by transportation --- Na re nd ra Mo d i in N a ga l a nd February 22, 2018 1 THE NORTH EAST SCENARIO An unprecedented increase in ϐ ͳ͸ͷΨ 7000 6000 5000 5,643 165% 4000 Budget 3000 in ` 2000 1000 2,122 0 2009-14 2014-19 ǣ h 43 Railway projects under progress h 25 new lines under construction h 11 national projects h The total expenditure would be ` 98,000 crore h 5,158 kms of new broad gauge railway lines to be added h 3,138 kms of new broad gauge lines already commissioned h Divyangjan toilets provided in 246 stations h 5 nos of Lifts & 4 nos of Escalators have been provided in three stations h Silghat has become 1stǦ h Mechanized cleaning started in 179 stations h A total 27 nos of Manned and 59 nos of Unmanned Level Crossing eliminated Ǥ Ǥ h 169 nos of Road Under Bridges/Subways and 70 nos of Road Over Bridges constructed till 30-06-2019 ϐ Ȉ All state capitals of the Northeast to be connected with broad gauge lines Ȉ Socio-economic landscape to be transformed Ȉ Large number of jobs created for gainful employment of locals It may be noted that the budgets allocated to various projects are ϐ 2 ǯ Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Flagged off the Passenger Train from Silchar to Jiribam on 27th May, 2016 h Manipur entered the railway map of India, when Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Flagged off the 1st passenger train from Silchar to Jiribam on 27th May, 2016 h Ȃ ϐ 24th March 2017 h Jiribam - Imphal New Broad Gauge line project of length 111 kms. to be completed by March, 2022 at a cost of ` 9,658 crore ǣ h 01 no of toilets provided for Divyangjan ǣ At 87 kms in Jiribam Tupul section, a railway bridge at Noney will have the tallest railway pier in India at a height of 141 metres which is twice the height of Qutub Minar.
