News Release Contacts: Mike Rush, Executive Director and CEO [email protected] Janelle Toman, Director of Communications [email protected] Telephone: (605) 773-3455 Fax: (605) 773-5320 www.sdbor.edu FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, May 2, 2018 Special to the Vermillion Plain Talk; The Volante; KYOT-TV; KAOR-FM; KUSD-FM; WNAX Radio Regents Invite Public to Campus-Community Forum May 9 VERMILLION, S.D. – Vermillion-area residents are invited to join the South Dakota Board of Regents for a campus-community forum next week on the campus of the University of South Dakota. “We look forward to holding our board meeting May 8-10 on the University of South Dakota campus,” said Regents President Bob Sutton. “It is a perfect time to invite local residents to join us for dialogue and a short question/answer session on topics of interest.” The Campus-Community Forum will be held Wednesday, May 9, at 5 p.m. in the Muenster University Center Ballroom on the USD campus. USD has a significant impact on the Vermillion community and the regional economy, according to an economic impact report commissioned by the Board of Regents. Based on Fiscal Year 2016 data, the University of South Dakota generated about $786 million in annual economic impact to South Dakota from a state investment of $56.6 million. An estimated 20,308 people live in our state because of USD’s presence and the accompanying economic activity. USD directly supports about 1,600 full-time jobs in South Dakota and more than 6,800 full-time jobs from the university’s resulting economic activity. In FY16, the university acquired $19 million in federal and private grants and contracts for research, development, and special projects. Additionally, USD students injected about $56 million into South Dakota’s economy through their day-to-day living expenses. -30- .
