Turabian (henceforth referred to as “Turabian”). This manual frequently directs students to the relevant sections in Turabian, providing only what is necessary for clarification or SBTS specific requirements. Students are encouraged to acquire a copy of Turabian. Students are also encouraged to consult The SBL Handbook of Style (2nd ed.) and The Chicago Manual of Style (17th ed.). Every paper you submit at Boyce College and Southern Seminary needs to look like a Southern Seminary paper, or, as we say around here, it needs to conform to “SBTS style.” Just as every publisher requires authors to submit their work in the format that publisher prefers, we too have a certain format all students are required to use. Most everything you need to know about formatting your papers you’ll find in this style guide, but sometimes this manual will refer you to Kate Turabian’s A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations. (We call it “Turabian” for short.) SBTS also provides templates you can use for writing research papers, book reviews, theses, and doctoral dissertations. These templates will automatically conform to many of the style guidelines in this manual, making it easier for you to focus on the content
