It all kicked off in January when official construction began and just recently we hosted a spectacular celebration when 100 prospective future residents joined us at the iconic Doomben Racecourse for our Race Day Launch Party. It was a great day for everyone to experience what life at Bernborough Ascot will be like. Bernborough Ascot Newsletter | December 2019 Edition Race Day launch party BERNBOROUGH ASCOT OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES On Wednesday 16th October, we held our Race Day Launch Party at the Doomben Racecourse to officially launch Bernborough Ascot. Almost 100 prospective residents enjoyed taking in the best views of the races while enjoying a Penfold Grange tasting in our VIP trackside marquee. A jazz trio was on hand to provide the entertainment between races. Every guest received special souvenirs of the day, including hand-drawn portraits by fashion illustrator, Erin Whitty, and personalised embossed leather purses and clutches. “With construction of the first stage well advanced, we are delighted to see this project coming to life alongside the other residential, retail, commercial and community components of this exciting region,” said Tony Randello, Managing Director of Lendlease’s Retirement Living communities. Speak to our team now on 1800 411 601 Community Day THE LATEST FROM ASCOT CHILDCARE & KINDY In September, the Bernborough Ascot team visited Ascot Childcare & Kindy to build vegetable garden beds as part of Lendlease’s annual Community Day - a day for Lendlease to give back. The staff and children at Ascot Childcare & Kindy have been nurturing the plants and the children have learned valuable skills such as responsibility, self-confidence and connection with nature as well as knowledge about the science of plants, the environment and nutrition. The gardens are now well established and the first fruits and vegetables are almost ready for picking! Major construction milestones INTERNAL FIT-OUT COMMENCES Australia’s first vertical retirement community built on a racecourse, Bernborough Ascot, continues to reach new heights with level five of the building structure now complete. Works have commenced on the internal fit-out of the building, marking an exciting milestone in bringing the contemporary design to life. UPCOMING WORKS Nearby residents may experience some minor disruption early in the New Year with new water main works occurring along Hampden Street. Lendlease will work closely with Queensland Urban Utilities to ensure residents are notified prior to any water supply interruptions. At Bernborough Ascot, we have begun working with the Green Building Council Australia to secure ‘Green Star Community’ certification. WHAT IS A GREEN STAR COMMUNITY? Green Star is a voluntary rating system which certifies the sustainability of buildings and communities. The certification process requires us to submit significant evidence showing how we will meet or exceed the rating system’s criteria. Green Building Council Australia’s (GBCA) Green Star Communities rating system assesses a project in five areas: governance, liveability, economic prosperity, environment and innovation. The rating system assesses the project against these areas holistically to give a star rating, with six being the highest.
