Thank you to our Sponsor ‘Bendigo Bank’ MOFSC Winter 2020 Supplementary Sailing Instructions for the Dinghy Winter Series / Pacer Cup MOFSC Winter Series / Pacer Cup 1. Preface These supplementary sailing instructions are to be read in conjunction with sections in the MOFSC 2019 – 2020 Sailing instructions, specifically exclude sections 3, 4, 11.4, 15.4, 15.6, 15.8(), 17.2, 17.4, Attachments A, B, C. 2. Pacer Cup Format The event will be raced in Pacer Dinghies between MOFSC Keel boat sailors and MOFSC Dinghy sailors during the Dinghy Winter Series. Other MOFSC sections are also invited to nominate. The teams will consist of three Pacer Dinghies per team. The Pacers will automatically be entered into the Winter Series heats and finish positions will be counted towards the Winter Series. It is encouraged that all Pacer Cup sailors endeavour to compete in all Winter Series heats. 3. Pacer Cup Dates Sailing days are the 5th July, 2nd August and 6th September. 4. Winter Series Dates Sailing days are the 5th July, 19th July, 2nd August, 16th August, 6th September & 20th September. 5. Venue Racing will be in the estuary between the (New)Old Mandurah Bridge and the mouth of the estuary. Racing may also take place in Comet Bay off Doddi’s Beach and adjacent to Point Robert. Racing location will be determined by the RO on the day of the heats. 6. Courses The location and course will be set on the day of the sailing heat, and will be dependent on conditions such as tide, wind speed & direction. Note that due to restrictions for space in the estuary, the course will be an elongated triangle, windward leeward, or reaching course. Existing navigation marks may be used, as well as club inflatable buoys. A triangle course will be set off Doddi’s Beach, adjacent to Point Robert. The course will be notified on the day at the competitors meeting at 0900. Two heats of approximately 40-45 minutes will be planned for each racing day. 7. Pacer Cup Allocation of Pacer Dinghies Expressions of interest for sailing the Pacer Cup will be allocated first. A draw will take place allocate the boats. (See attached spreadsheet for Pacer allocations). All MOFSC members are encouraged to compete for either the Keel Boat or Dinghy team. 8. Entry Fee for Series The fee will be $50 for the series or $10 dollars per race day. Payment may be made direct to reception during office hours, by phone or over the bar. Nominations are to be sent to reception directly, by email, or handed over the bar. 9. Pacer Cup Scoring Each race will be scored as follows: First 8, Second 5, Third 4, Fourth 3, Fifth 2, Sixth 1, DNF -1, DNS -2, DNC -3 Overall team scores will be the sum of their heat scores. 10. Winter Series Scoring Scoring shall be in accordance with section 22 of the MOFSC 2019 – 2020 Sailing instructions. There will be a Mixed Fleet Junior Series and a Mixed Fleet Senior Series. All scoring shall be based on Championship dinghy, using the Victorian yardstick. 11. Prizes a) The overall winning section which will be awarded the MOFSC Pacer Cup. b) Junior Mixed Fleet Prizes will also be awarded for overall individual First, Second, Third, and a Special at the Dinghy Winter Series prize giving. c) Senior Mixed Fleet Prizes will also be awarded for overall individual First, Second, Third,at the Dinghy Winter Series prize giving. 12. Damage to Club Boats Whilst MOFSC has adequate damage insurance for MOFSC vessels, it is the Skipper’s responsibility to cover any excess that is on the policy.
