Welcome to St George’s Court We wish you a pleasant stay and hope you find the following pages of information useful. If you would prefer fresh milk rather than the milk portions, please ask at the house If you require any extra pillows, please just ask. You will find spare blankets in each room in case you require them. You will also find situated in a drawer a hairdryer a radio alarm clock and rechargeable torch. If you require the use of an iron and ironing board please ask at the house. Breakfast is served between 8:30am and 9:00am. No allowance will be made for meals not taken. We would like to remind you that all our rooms are no smoking. We kindly request that you vacate your room between the hours of 10:30am and 1:30pm to allow us to clean. If you are unable to do so we will be happy just to top up your tea tray on request. On the day of departure we request that you vacate your room by 10:30am. All vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk and we do not accept any responsibility for the loss or damage of them. Please park to the rear of the building unless you require any assistance. We kindly request that when you return on an evening you are as quiet as possible for the comfort of all our guests. The proprietors cannot accept responsibility for the loss or damage of guest’s property unless handed in for safe custody. If you require the use of a telephone, please ask at the house The proprietors reserve the right to amend, curtail or terminate any booking should the conduct of any person who is part of that booking cause any detriment to the well being of other guests or to the property. General Information Fire If you discover a fire on the premises DO NOT try to tackle it. Raise an alarm then evacuate the property by the closest exit. Do not stay to retrieve any personal belongings. The fire point is by the gate on the driveway. Do not re-enter the building until you are told it is safe to do so. Dial 999 for any of the Emergency services. For medical assistance, Accident and Emergency at Ripon is 8am to 8pm, or at Harrogate 24 hours a day. Local Dining The Grantley Arms – (01765) 620227: At the end of the drive turn right and head up into the village. The pub is situated approx. 500 yards on your left. A very good meal but not a place to take children – more of a restaurant than pub. You may dine inside or out. Available for both lunches and evening meals 7 days a week. The Sawley Arms – (01765) 620642: (Closed Mondays) At the end of the drive turn left and go down and then back up the hill. At the junction at the top turn right, then take your first left into the village of Sawley. The pub is in the centre of the village on your right hand side. Very good food in an upmarket atmosphere (do not wear jeans), not a place for the children. The Drovers Inn (01765) 658510: (Doesn’t take credit cards) (Closed Mondays) At the end of the drive turn right, go through Grantley village and take your first left signposted Skelding. Follow this road approx 2 miles, it will take you on to the moor. At the junction turn right and go over the cattle grid, the pub is approximately ½ mile on the left. Good pub food and a plateful – you will not need a pudding! This pub is tiny with only about six tables inside. The Half Moon (01423) 711560 Food served every lunch and evening. (12-2 and 7-9) At the end of the drive turn left and go to the top of the hill. At the junction turn right. Stay on this road for approx 3 – 4 miles the Half Moon is situated on the right in a dip. Good food and children welcome. The Queens Head Tandoori (01765) 658817 Food 7 days a week 6pm – 11 pm. Good Indian food but don’t be in a hurry. At the end of the drive turn right, do through the village and keep going for approximately 3 miles until you come to a cross roads. The Queens is situated almost opposite. For all the above, we would recommend that during busy times you book a table in advance. There are also plenty of restaurants in Ripon, Pateley Bridge and Harrogate, along with many most cuisines to suite every palate. Please remember all waters belong to someone and therefore permission must be obtained before fishing. You must hold your own licence and carry it with you. If you require to dry any boots or out door gear we have the boiler house for use please ask. We also have boot scrappers.
