Tuesday, October 11th, at 6:00 p.m. Italian Cultural Institute 500 North Michigan Avenue Suite 1450 In commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute is proud to continue the film series about the cultural and political history of Italy from the Unification until the present day. Starting on October 4th, every Tuesday, the Institute will screen a different film created between the 1940s and 1960s, starting with the neorealist Ladri di biciclette and concluding with La Dolce Vita by Fellini. LA STRADA (1954), directed by Federico Fellini La strada (The road) is an Italian neorealist drama which earned Federico Fellini his international reputation and won him the first ever Academy award for best foreign language film in 1956. The film tells the story of a naïve young woman (Giulietta Masina) who is sold to a brutish man (Antony Quinn) and goes on the road as a part of his itinerant show.
