MINUTES OF THE MAY 13, 2014 REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION. THE BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING IS VIDEOTAPED AND THE VIDEO IS AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW OR A COPY CAN BE OBTAINED BY CONTACTING THE TREASURER'S OFFICE AT THE HELEN H. "SUE" OSBORN ADMINISTRATION BUILDING. The Mentor Exempted Village Board of Education held its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 7:02 p.m., at Mentor High School, Lecture Room A, 6477 Center Street, Mentor, Ohio. Members present: Mrs. Mary L. Bryner, Mrs. Virginia E. Jeschelnig, Ms. Sally S. Miller, Mr. William J. Shaw, and Mr. Thomas V. Tuttle. Mrs. Bryner led the assembled in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Shaw moved, seconded by Mrs. Jeschelnig to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held April 8, 2014. Roll Call: Ayes: Mr. Shaw, Mrs. Jeschelnig, Ms. Miller, Mr. Tuttle, Mrs. Bryner. The motion carried. 2014-5-79 At this time, Mrs. Bryner stated that there would be a hearing of the public on agenda items only. There were none. Mr. Shaw moved, seconded by Ms. Miller, that the Board of Education approve the consent agenda as presented by the Superintendent. Acceptance of gifts: Adapted chair from David and Barbara Hixson to the Dr. Jacqueline A. Hoynes Building – CARES Program $30,000 from the Lincoln Electric Foundation to the Mentor Public School District $174 from Heinen’s Fine Foods to the Orchard Hollow Elementary School Principal’s Fund $250 from New York Life Insurance on behalf of Jason A. Stockmaster to the Fairfax Elementary School Principal’s Account Acceptance of the following overnight/out-of-state field trip at no cost to the Board of Education: Mentor High School/Lakeland SkillsUSA Team to Kansas City Convention Center, Kansas City, Missouri for National Conference June 22-28, 2014 Acceptance of the following grant: Mentor Schools Foundation Listening Center $1,373.00 Roberta Brickman/Jennifer Bakula Fairfax Elementary School Roll Call: Ayes: Mr. Shaw, Ms. Miller, Mrs. Jeschelnig, Mr. Tuttle, Mrs. Bryner. Time: 7:40 p.m. Mrs. Bryner reconvened the meeting to regular session. Time: 7:45 p.m. Mr. Tuttle moved, seconded by Mr. Shaw that the Board of Education approve the resolution accepting the Jerome T. Osborne Stadium Access Road Paving Project Bid. The successful base bid was submitted by Chagrin Valley Paving, Inc. Contract “A”: Base Bid $146,900.00 Alternate Item 1 40,700.00 Total $187,600.00 Roll Call: Ayes: Mr. Tuttle, Mr. Shaw, Mrs. Jeschelnig, Ms. Miller, Mrs. Bryner. The motion carried. 2014-5-81 Mr. Shaw moved, seconded by Mrs. Jeschelnig that the Board of Education approve the resolution accepting the Brentmoor Elementary School Paving Project Bid. The successful base bid was submitted by Ohio Paving and Construction Company Contract “A”: Base Bid $88,307.00 Alternate Item 1 16,482.00 Total $104,789.00 Roll Call: Ayes: Mr. Shaw, Mrs. Jeschelnig, Ms. Miller, Mr. Tuttle, Mrs. Bryner. The motion carried. 2014-5-82 Mr. Tuttle complimented the work of Ohio Paving at his agency.
