OFFICIAL BASEBALL OF BASEBALL CANADA ROMLCAN 65CC 80CC RUSSELL MARTIN ©Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc., a subsidiary of Jarden Corporation (NYSE: JAH) 1-800-RAWLINGS · RAWLINGS.COM Supporters, Sponsors and Family, As a staff, we want to take a moment to reach out and say welcome to the Great Lake Canadians family. We are proud of the many successes that we have achieved in our first three years of operation and look forward to continued success as we enter our fourth year. It is with a strong sense of pride that we can say that our players have put our program on the map and established the Great Lake Canadians as one of the most prestigious baseball programs in the country. The highlight of our second year was seeing Miles Gordon and Nick Hamilton, our first two players ever selected in the Major League Baseball Amateur draft. Building upon that accomplishment, three more Great Lake Canadians were selected the following year in the 2016 MLB draft as Tristan Clark ( Washington Capitals-30th round), Austin Shields (Pittsburgh Pirates-33rd round) and Jake Wilson ( Boston Red Sox- 39th round) joined Gordon and Hamilton as drafted Great Lake Canadians. In addition to these drafted players, fourteen other Great Lake Canadians have graduated into college baseball. Due to the increased popularity of the Great Lake Program and the talented players involved, we have chosen to expand by adding a second 14U club to our program for the 2017 season. Our main strength as a program is that we have access to very knowledgeable staff members, all of whom have impressive credentials. The availability of these highly qualified coaches allows this expansion to occur. Even as we grow we will continue to focus on what we believe is the most important component of amateur sports which is player development. With access to the top indoor facility in Canada, along with a staff which has a combined total of over 50 years of professional baseball experience, we pride ourselves on being the gold standard for player development in the country. Heading into year four, our goals as a staff and as a program remain simple; continue to develop elite players while working with them and their families to find post secondary opportunities in the game. Communication between players, families and staff will continue to be paramount as we pride ourselves on truly having an open door policy. Along these same lines, we will also continue to impress upon our players the importance of education. School comes hand in hand with athletics. Players are to be accountable in the classroom and must hold their end of the bargain at all times, without exception. To close, we thank all of you for choosing to be a part of our passion, The Great Lake Canadians. We promise that as a staff we will continue to put the best interest of each individual player first and foremost in any decision we make. The Great Lake Canadians will no doubt continue to be respected on the field, but as importantly we will be respected for the way we all carry ourselves off the field as well. Staff will hold players accountable for all of their actions. We look forward to being a part of helping all players attain their lifelong goals in the game of baseball as they continue to develop within the Great Lake Canadians program. GLC players spend their off-season in this 45,000 square ft. facility in London Ontario, which offers 20,000 square ft. of professional turf along with 11 batting cages and a 2,500 Square ft. strength and conditioning area with state of the art equipment. With the space and amenities CFS provides, our players are able to work on every facet of their game. The size of the facility allows game like situations to be simulated, and members of the older teams are able to develop a personalized off season weight training program using the extensive equipment. Each fall, Centrefield Sports hosts the biggest one day college/pro showcase in the country. This past November in the third annual CFS College/Pro Showcase, over 40 US colleges were in attendance along with over 12 Major League organizations being represented as well. This serves as yet another opportunity for our players to be seen by scouts because of our affiliation with Centrefield Sports. The Great Lake Canadians have quickly developed into one of the top amateur baseball programs in the country. Having the top indoor facility in Canada as our winter home will definitely contribute to the further development of our program. 25 Midpark Crescent | London, Ontario | [email protected] | www.centrefieldsports.com GREAT LAKE CANADIANS DEVELOPMENTALSTAFF Adam Stern Chris Robinson Adam Arnold Director of Player Development Director of Baseball Operations Pitching Coordinator & Strength & 18U Manager [email protected] and Conditioning Coordinator • MLB player (2005-2010) Red Sox, • MLB Player San Diego Padres 2013 [email protected] Brewers, Orioles • 9yrs professional baseball experience • 5 yrs professional baseball experience • 10 yrs professional baseball experience • Olympian • 2007 41st round draft pick • 2 x Olympian • 13x Canadian National Team Member Milwaukee Brewers • 8 yrs Canadian National Team Member • Starting catcher 2013 World Baseball • Developed National Team Pitchers: • 2006, 2009 World Baseball Classic Classic Michael Brettell, Tyler Whitbread, Team Member • 2005 3rd round draft pick Detroit Tigers Austin Shields • 2001 3rd round draft pick Atlanta Braves • Catching Instructor Canadian Junior • 2014 GLC 18U Manager • Scout Boston Red Sox National Team • Hitting/Outfield Instructor Canadian Junior National Team Jeff Helps Brock Kjeldgaard Shane Davis 17U Manager 16U Manager 15U Manager [email protected] • 8 yrs professional baseball experience • 2 yrs professional baseball experience • 5 yrs professional baseball experience • 2005 34th round draft pick Milwaukee • 2011 42nd Round Draft pick of the • 3 yrs Div 1 Central Michigan University Brewers Toronto Blue Jays • 2015 GLC 16U Manager • 2 yrs Canadian National Team Member • 2005 Junior National Team Member • 2 x Pan Am Games Gold Medalist • 4 yrs Canisius College Div 1, 2008 (11’ & 15’) Freshman All-American Brad McElroy Kirk Barclay Derek Bloomfield 14U Red Manager 18U Coach/Catching Instructor Infield/Hitting Instructor • 5 yrs professional baseball experience • 2 Years Anderson University/Huntington • Played at Hill College in Texas • 2008 25th round draft pick Toronto Univeristy NAIA • Signed with Cook County Blue Jays • Head Eastern Canada Scout - Cheetahs (Frontier League) • 2 yrs UNC Charlotte Div 1 Kansas City Royals • 18 yrs coaching experience • 23 Years Coaching Experience • Associate Scout Kansas City Royals Tom Arnold Jamie Romak Mike Ambrose 15U Coach Infield/Hitting Instructor Infield/Hitting Instructor • 30 yrs coaching experience • MLB INF/OF Los Angeles Dodgers • 2 Yrs Professional Experience • Long time St. Thomas Elgin • 11yrs professional baseball experience (Pittsburgh Pirates) player & Coach • 4 yrs Canadian National Team Member • 2 yrs UNC Charlotte Div. 1 • Developed many pro and college players • 2003 4th round draft pick Atlanta Braves • 5 yrs coaching experience • Currently playing professionally in Japan Matt Bowden Larry Balkwill Sean Refflinghaus 14U Black Manager Catching/Hitting Instructor Catching/Hitting Instructor • Current 2B on UWO Baseball Team • 3 years professional experience • 4yrs Inter-County Baseball League • 2015 OUA Champion • 2009 41st round Draft Pick Detroit Tigers • 1yr St. Clair College/2yr Fanshawe College • National Gold Medalist (2013) • 4 years Siena College Division 1 • 3x National Gold Medalist and 1 Bronze Medal and Bronze Medalist (2015) • 2009 Canadian National Junior Team • CIBA-All Canadian Catcher and 3x OCAA • Instructor at Centrefield Sports All Star team member WE ARE A full-sERVICE LAW FIRM, OFFERING LEGAL SERVICES TO BOTH BUSINESSES AND INDIVIDUALS THROUGHOUT SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO.
