Hence we are creating awareness among the public for massive avenue plantation and also by free distribution of plants. • Celebrations of 144th birthday of ANDHRA KESARI “TANGUTURI PRAKASAM PANTUTLU” was done in the ULB. • Smart pulse survey is being carried out effectively in the ULB. In order to assure the smooth progress of the survey, students are attached as enumerators so as to get them through the technical issues and efficiently monitor the process. • Independence Day celebrations were held in the ULB. On the remembrance of great freedom fighters, celebrations were done at all municipal schools, Govt.offices and at public centers. • Swachh Bharat Mission is running successfully in the ULB to maintain Swachh Kadapa- Swachh Andhra “one step towards cleanliness”. Vanam-Manam • In continuation of Vanam-Manam, plantation of saplings took place by Joint Collector and the Commissioner near Mariyapuram. • The Commissioner appealed to public that, each and everyone should participate in plantation of saplings. Special care should be taken after plantation of saplings and also narrated usefulness of trees to mankind. • Till 09-08-2016, 60,000 saplings were planted in city. Soon, a mega plantation program was contemplated for planting 1,00,000 saplings as reported by the Commissioner during Grievance cell. Swachh Survekshan Kicks off • Swachh Survekshan 2017, an assessment mechanism has been introduced by GoI to relatively grade all 500 ULBs where SBM is being implemented. • To kick start this allover the nation a kick off workshop was held on 6th August 2016. • Central Govt. and State Governments are giving at most priority to clean environment and their cities. • For Kadapa region, this workshop was arranged at NIC studio with in the Collectorate premises • This workshop consisted of a video conference in which Hon'ble Union Minister for Urban Development Sri. Venkayya Naidu garu with all the Municipal Commissioners of Kadapa district. Contd.. • In the conference, Hon'ble Union Minister for Urban Development Sri. Venkayya Naidu garu expressed that in February 2016 rankings were given by conducting Swachh Survekshan programme in 73 towns. • ULBs having 1 lakh and above population this survey to be conducted From January 2017, fosters competitiveness among the ULBs and their commissioners to raise to the situation and strive to accomplish a better relative ranking amongst different ULB’s. • Municipal Commissioners from eight municipalities within Kadapa district have attended the workshop. • A presentation regarding Swachh Survekshan and the efficacy of Soil Bio Mass Technology was given by District Resource Person Sri.A.Uma Maheswar Rao (SE of Corporation). “ANDHRAKESARI” TANGUTURI PRAKASAM Panthulu- 144th BIRTHDAY • Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu was an Indian politician and freedom fighter, Chief Minister of the Madras Presidency, and subsequently became the first Chief Minister of the new Andhra state, created by the partition of Madras State along linguistic lines. • He was also known as Andhra Kesari (literally, the "Lion of Andhra"). • The Andhra Pradesh government issued G.O on 10th August 2014 declaring his birth anniversary as a state festival. • GREAT LEADER - THE LION OF ANDHRA - ANDHRA KESARI SHRI.TANGUTURI PRAKASAM PANTULU . • Birthday celebrations took place in city. The Hon'ble MP, Hon’ble Mayor, Hon’ble MLA ,District Collector and other officials garlanded the statue decorated by the MCK in splendor. Pushkaram • Krishna Pushkaram is a festival of River Krishna which normally occurs once in 12 years. The Pushkaram is observed for a period of 12 days (12-08-2016 to 23-08-2016) from the time of entry of Jupiter into Virgo. • The auspicious holy dip - Krishna Pushkaram was observed by Lakhs of devotees all along the villages, towns and cities on either bank of Krishna river for twelve days. • From Municipal Corporation Kadapa various functionaries from class-IV to officer level were drafted to work at Vijayawada where the arrangements like construction of Ghats, toilets, dressing rooms and protection for the devotees from drowning in the river providing drinking water supply, making available prasadam and managing proper sanitation and medical facilities, regulating the flow of devotees into the ghats to prevent any stampede. • For convenience of devotees from Kadapa city in addition to the regular fleet 100 buses were arranged. During the Pushkaram days there was no on toward incident and all the arrangements were so exquisitely provided that the entire Pushkaram passed smoothly to everyone’s comfort. Smart Pulse Survey • The Smart Pulse Survey was launched on July 8th across the state with an objective to ascertain the socio-economic status of people which is being carrying effectively in the MCK. • This becomes a total data base of a particular individual having a unique identity of finger prints and iris impression. Since then, the anniversary of this date August 15 is celebrated as the Independence Day throughout India to commemorate its freedom from the 200-year-old British government. • Independence day is celebrated every year with religious discipline, joyous, jubilant freedom and also carrying fraternity. The day is observed as a national holiday for the country. • Independence day was celebrated throughout Kadapa Dist. Which culminated at Parade Grounds, Kadapa. The flag hoisting was done by the Hon’ble Dist. Incharge Minister Sri.Ganta Srinivasa Rao and inspected the Guard of Honour which was followed by the Dist. Collector delivering the report of achievements of the district administration for the entire year and the way forward for this district for the coming year. • The entire celebrations was performed in a simple way without causing any undue burden on the state exchequer. • A tribute is paid by the MCK staff to the freedom fighters of India. Highlights of the Month • Video conference regarding 70th Independence day celebrations-2016 on 01-08-2016 at New Collectorate, Kadapa. • Rally from State guest house to kalakshetram on the occasion of Chenetha Dinotsavam (National Handloom Day) took place in city. • Awareness campaign at new Collectorate on 17-08-2016 regarding SC action plan. • Review meeting on Beti Bachavo Beti Padavo at meekosam hall, Collectorate on 27-08-2016. • Visakhapatnam Co-operative bank opened at Kadapa by the Commissioner. • Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSW) meeting was conducted at old dump yard, Ukkayapalli on 29-08-2016. • The members of the Peace Committee of city participated in pre-festival meeting to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of two festivals of at most religious importance namely Vinayaka Chavithi and Bakrid festivals in Collectorate , Kadapa on 30-08-2016. Contd.. • The Hon'ble Mayor spoke that “Music was the best therapy for attaining bliss and reducing stress” on the occasion of opening of new music school. • If you do experiments in any stream, then knowledge in that stream will be multiplied told by the Commissioner in a meeting which took place at C.V.Raman Science Club, Kadapa. • Pending tap connections should be cleared immediately, a call by the Commissioner in Grievance cell on 29-08-2016. • On 16-08-2016, Balaji MBA College conducted 2K16 Orientation Program. Hon’ble Mayor and popular writer of self help books Sri.Yandamuri Veerendranath participated in this program and suggested that the students should be disciplined and committed towards their education and very importantly students should be good at their communication skills. Focus on Sports • 20th Junior Sepak Takraw Championship took place in Kadapa city. The players from all the districts of our state have been participated enthusiastically in the event. Hon’ble Mayor took active participation and given away the trophy to the winners of Boys team and Girls team. Sports Day Celebrations • On the eve of Dhyanchand’s birthday, sports day was celebrated in all the schools. • Dist. Collector suggested the students that importance should be given to sports apart from academics. • The Commissioner told that, to a young heart everything is sport. Meetings Beti Bachavo Beti Padhao (BBBP) • Beti Bachavo Beti Padhao, a program which was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has been implemented in Kadapa city. • Joint Collector and the Commissioner took active participation and expressed the importance of child girls. • In addition, they have planned to conduct the rallies in city to create awareness of Beti Bachavo Beti Padhao and also to tell the significance of child girls. Field Visits • Due to torrential rain, all the major roads in Kadapa city were inundated. The Hon’ble Mayor and the Commissioner visited the major roads in the city and instructed the concerned engineering staff to find appropriate solutions to overcome the accumulation of water on roads on a permanent basis. Some of the main roads on which there was stagnation of water were cleared after cessation of rain using JCB to divert water in to the nearby drains. Contd.. • During the Grievance cell on 01-08- 2016, it was declared that within a week once for all solution shall be found so that, stagnant waters in the city shall be eliminated totally as expressed by SE Sri.A.Uma Maheswar Rao. • In this backdrop to overcome the issue, preparation of Detailed Project Report was under process as told by SE. • Then as expressed by him as a temporary solution, the engineering staff were directed to deploy motors of the corporation to bail out stagnant water from chronically inundated areas. Visit to Head Water Works (HWW) • In city regarding drinking water, main head water works at Lingampally was visited by the Dist.
