Located in Mysore 4 k.m away from the heart of the city, on Malai Mahadeshwara Road and sprawled on a 25 acre campus in a lush green backdrop, the College offers a serene atmosphere for study and personality development. The college is managed by St. Teresa’s Education Society, which was founded by Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (C.S.S.T). C.S.S.T is a religious congregation dedicated primarily to education. Today the congregation runs 70 school and 6 colleges all over India and a few countries abroad. Our goals: To foster total development of each student, in her uniqueness, so that she becomes fully human, alert to the needs of others, willing and prepared to give to others what she has received. To nurture the formation of right values based on personal conviction . Aims and Objectives: To develop the spirit of learning, research, creativity and challenge. To create a sense of civil consciousness thereby contributing to the growth and development of the community. To provide an environment for the promotion and assimilation of our culture and heritage. To promote faith formation that integrates faith with life. To conduct Seminars/Workshops/Conferences at District, State and National level. To encourage both the staff and students to participate in various level workshops/conference/seminars. Motivate the students to participate in inter −collegiate activities/competitions. Providing facilities and encouragement to the staff members to go for FIP (Ph. D.) Celebrating the College Day Taking all the possible measures to complete the ongoing project of auditorium construction. To conduct sports meet. Encouraging the staff to be resource persons for state level and national level academic programmes. To carry on with many certificate courses. Facilitate campus interview for the benefit of our students. To conduct some activities to generate fund for the auditorium cum classrooms project. To organize study tour and trips. Take up major and minor research projects funded by UGC Start post graduate courses M.Com and M.A in English. Leadership training and recruitment programme. Continue to initiate the healthy practices. Upgrade infrastructure facilities. OUTCOME ACHIEVED Conducted various academic and nonacademic competitions and programmes Field trips, educational visits, Industrial visits, etc. were organized by different departments. College level science exhibition “Scispectra” was organized. Hosted and participated in zonal level science exhibition organized by Karnataka Rajya Vignana Parishath, in association with Department of Science and Technology, Department of Collegiate Education and Teresian College. Sports students achieved laurels in Zonal level/ District level/ National level competitions Sports meet was conducted. Post graduation in commerce was started. 50 Students were recruited in various organizations. Dr. G. S. Susheelamma, Associate Professor, H. O. D of Kannada successfully completed minor research project. Relevant programmes were conducted on days earmarked by various National/International organizations. PART B 1. ACTIVITIES REFLECTING THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OFOF THE INSTITUTIONINSTITUTION:::: To foster the total development of each student there are various associations to encourage students to participate in competitions and other activities. Value education classes are included in curriculum. To create spirit of enquiry and challenge in the minds of students, quiz, essay writing, debate competition, project works, visit to industries, study tours etc. were conducted. To promote our culture, heritage and patriotism − National and State festivals are celebrated. Academic year starts with a prayer service and every day begins with a prayer. Spiritual intelligence programme was organized in the beginning of the year. To inculcate ethical values many healthy practices are followed. Community services like visiting and rendering needful services to inmates of prison, orphanages, old age home, home for destitute, etc., are followed. 2. NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES INITIATED (UG & PGPG). Post-Graduation in commerce was started. Proposal was sent for starting MA in English for the academic year 2012-13 3. INNOVATIONS IN CURCURRRRRIIIICULARCULAR DESIGN AND TRANSACTION Curriculum is designed by the University. The college follows the semester system. The Choice Based Credit System has been proposed to be implemented in future for the under graduate courses. The post graduate courses in biotechnology and commerce follows CBCS . 4. INTER DISCIPLINARY PROGRAMMES STARTEDSTARTED:::: NIL 5. EXAMINATION REFORMS IMPLEMENTEDIMPLEMENTED:::: – As per the University examination reform 6. CANDIDATES QUALIFIED ––– NET/SLET/GATE etc. Rashmi B. S., Lecturer, Department of Computer Science qualified in Karnataka State Eligibility test (KSET) for lectureship held on October 2011. 7. INITIATIVE TOWARDS FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMEPROGRAMME.... Faculty members of different departments attended various seminars, workshops and conferences as a part of faculty development programme. A few are pursuing Research Programme also. Prof. Nalini Xavier, HOD, Dept. of English Attended workshop on education at Joint Director’s office, Mysore on 16 th July 2011. Attended Shakespeare’s festival at St. Philomena’s College on 26 th February 2012. Attended a Seminar on “Drama and Fiction” at St. Philomena’s College, Mysore on 29 th March 2011. Published a Book review “Frying Pan and other Stories” by Raja(R Subramony) in “ The Literary Criterion Vol XLVI 2011 no.2. Dr. R.A. Vasantha, HOD, Dept. of Chemistry Attended National Level seminar on “Recent trends in Chemistry” organized by PES College, Mandya on 16 th & 17 th September 2011 & Presented a paper on Spectrophotometric assay of Reserpive”. Published a paper in International journals on “A Spectro Photo Metric assay method for Vanadium in biological & environmental samples using 2,4- Dinitrophenyl hydrazine with imipramine hydrochloride” in Environment assess (E- MAS) on 6 th April 2011 (101007/s10661-011-1952) Published a paper in the National journals CMJ-CS Vol. 8 page No 1-11 on “Spectro Photo metric assay of Resorcinol in pharmaceutical samples. It was organized by Yuvaraja’s College in collaboration with Indian Academy of Science Bangalore, Indian National Science Academy, Delhi and The National Science Academy, New Delhi and the National Academy of Science, Allahabad.
