What’s happening and when The frequency of the local Liverpool DAB radio is changing overnight on 19/20 April. It will affect around 1 million households in coverage (see coverage map attached) who will need to re-tune from the morning of 20 April to keep listening to their local DAB stations. Because of the new frequency, some consumers will need to do a full scan. The stations affected are BBC Radio Merseyside, Radio City, Radio City 2, Radio City 3, Radio City Talk, Smooth North West, Capital Liverpool, Heart North West, Heat, Kisstory and Absolute 90s Local broadcasters will start running trials this week on what is happening and the need to re-tune. It is important to note that consumers must re-tune after the frequency change has taken place. o Listeners on DAB digital radio in Liverpool will need to retune their DAB digital radio on the morning of Wednesday 20 April to continue to listen to local services on DAB digital radio, or to pick them up for the first time. o Retuning a DAB digital radio is a simple process. Simply press the auto tune or auto scan button on your DAB digital radio or go into the menu and press auto tune. If this does not restore all services, then listeners are recommended to run a full scan on their DAB digital radio. For advice on how to retune your DAB digital radio go to: http://www.getdigitalradio.com/retune o Listeners who use their DAB digital radio as an alarm clock set to local services are advised to use a different alarm system to wake up to on Wednesday 20 April. o The retune affects local radio services on DAB only and does not affect people who listen to the stations on FM or MW, online or via digital television. o Some radios that were manufactured before the year 2007 may require a full auto tune or Rest of World scan to find the services. On many radios this is done by simply holding down the auto tune button for five or six seconds. Please refer to the radio instruction manual if this does not work.
