Stornoway is recruiting for a Chief Mine Geologist. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Chief Mine Geologist will be responsible for managing the mine geology department and overseeing all geological surveying, mine exploration and production geology activities, including production reconciliations against plan, for a combined open pit and underground operation. Experience in Canadian diamond mining operations and an up to date understanding of the geological characteristics and emplacement mechanisms of kimberlites preferred. The Chief Mine Geologist will work closely with the company’s kimberlite petrology group based in North Vancouver, and the project’s onsite mineral processing staff. Minimum BSc in geology and 10 years of experience in mining geology in a production setting required. The position of Chief Mine Geologist will be based initially in Longueuil office, and transferred subsequently to the Renard mine site. Bachelor Degree in Geology/Mining Geology; . A minimum of 10 years’ experience in mining geology; . Previous experience in Canadian diamond mining operations an asset; . Up to date understanding of the petrology and emplacement mechanisms of kimberlites preferred; . Knowledge of software such as Surpac, Gemcom, Deswik, Promine is an asset; . Experience in interpretation, modeling and managing of geological resources; . Completion of modular training (FMTM) for miners is an asset; . Versatility and flexibility at work; .
