Position: Chief Mine Geologist Location: Mine Site Join Les Diamants Stornoway and become part of a great team that is building a world class diamond mining company based on quality Canadian diamond projects, starting with Renard, our flagship development-stage asset in Quebec. Stornoway is recruiting for a Chief Mine Geologist. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Chief Mine Geologist will be responsible for managing the mine geology department and overseeing all geological surveying, mine exploration and production geology activities, including production reconciliations against plan, for a combined open pit and underground operation. Experience in Canadian diamond mining operations and an up to date understanding of the geological characteristics and emplacement mechanisms of kimberlites preferred. The Chief Mine Geologist will work closely with the company’s kimberlite petrology group based in North Vancouver, and the project’s onsite mineral processing staff. Minimum BSc in geology and 10 years of experience in mining geology in a production setting required. The position of Chief Mine Geologist will be based initially in Longueuil office, and transferred subsequently to the Renard mine site. Bachelor Degree in Geology/Mining Geology; . A minimum of 10 years’ experience in mining geology; . Previous experience in Canadian diamond mining operations an asset; . Up to date understanding of the petrology and emplacement mechanisms of kimberlites preferred; . Knowledge of software such as Surpac, Gemcom, Deswik, Promine is an asset; . Experience in interpretation, modeling and managing of geological resources; . Completion of modular training (FMTM) for miners is an asset; . Versatility and flexibility at work; . Autonomous and resourcefulness; . Interest and ability to work in a multicultural work environment; . Exemplary health and safety attitude; . Demonstrated leadership and ability to work as part of a team in previous roles; . Able to work efficiently and proactively to meet tight deadlines; . Excellent ability to plan, organize and execute; . Results-driven; . Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French required.
