Chirag Nanda 27 students from Grade 9 to 12 entered the FIRST Robotics Competition as Team# 7539-Elev8, combining the excitement of sport with the rigours of Science & Technology. The team indulged in various activities, like learning CAD, ‘Rookie All Star’ programming using JAVA, Electricals, Web Designing and Animation. Elev8 won 3 Award- First Robotics the Rookie All Star Award at the world Championship in Detroit, USA. The Competition team built their Robot, ‘Antriksh’ through their community outreach as well as fund raising. The team will continue to multiply its efforts to serve the community for 21st century skill programmes, along with learning the latest technologies and solving real-world problems by building and coding their own robots in future. 4 International Adhyyan Sekhsaria of IBD Y12 was one among only 4 students who were Olympiad of selected to represent India at the 2019 International Olympiad of Informatics Informatics (programming) where students from more than 80 countries participate. He was selected due to his performance in multiple zonal rounds and then was placed in the top 4 at the National Training Camp. 1 DAIS Academics and Co-curricular Achievements 2018-2019 Sr. No. INTERNATIONAL LEVEL Riyaan Bakhda- Class XI and his team aimed to provide a safer and cheaper alternative to replace the hazardous and toxic methods of packing food in plastic containers, Newspaper and aluminium foil. The project was a commercial Artificial-Intelligence enabled robotic system which fabricated food containers World Robotics using banana leaves and hygienically packed food in them. The prototype 5 Olympiad- 6th Rank machine was programmed to automatically cut, process, scan and sterilize raw in the world leaves to make them usable for food packaging. The team secured First place in the senior Open Category and was chosen from over 50 competing teams to represent India at the international Championship in Thailand. Here too, the team won the 6th Rank from 40 teams from over 35 countries at the International World Robot Olympiad (WRO) The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition is the World’s Oldest Schools’ International writing competition, managed by the Royal Commonwealth Society The Queen’s since 1883. The theme of the 2018 competition was ‘The Road to a safer 6 Commonwealth Essay Future’. Amongst thousands of youngsters taking part, Shiv Kampani of Class Competition IX-C won Gold in the senior category; Aanya Shahani of Class XI won a Silver in the senior category for her Essay. Avantika Kampani of Class VI- A bagged Silver in the junior Category. Aarushi Majumder attended the Dean’s List Summit in Manchester, USA. The award is given to outstanding student leaders who have demonstrated exemplary technical expertise, entrepreneurship, creativity and commitment at First Dean’s List 7 attaining FIRST Ideals. A total of 10 students out of over 75000 students Award participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition were given this award and Aarushi was the first non- American to receive it in the 9 Year history of the award. Aman Ladia of IB Year XI was invited to speak at the prestigious Future Block chain Summit Dubai 2019. This summit is the world’s largest gathering of Block chain investors, experts and academia all under one roof, organised by the A Smart Investment Government of Dubai (Smart City) in collaboration with Dubai World Trade 8 Centre. Aman’s research paper on Distributed Data Access Control via Block Chain has made it to the top 5 research papers selected for presentation at University of Salamanca, Spain, for the Block chain Congress 2019, to be held between 26th -28th June 2019. 2 DAIS Academics and Co-curricular Achievements 2018-2019 Sr. No. INTERNATIONAL LEVEL Harvard Anushka Basu-Class XI-DAIS student has been selected as a recipient of Harvard 9 Undergraduate Undergraduate CBE Student Sustainability Award for her achievements in Sustainability award Sustainable Innovation and Leadership. Avantika Garg-Class XI- DAIS student interviewed Dr. Anita Sengupta, who designed Parachute for NASA Mars Space Mission for BBC World Service. STEAM 10 STEAM Academy Academy connected with Avantika for the BBC Event as part of the Academy’s STEAM Girls’ mentoring Programme. Sr. No. NATIONAL LEVEL First Lego League Arav Kaul and Samarth Katiyar participated in First Lego League (FLL) and won 1 National level the First Place Championship award and were qualified to represent India at FLL Olympiad World Championship 2019, Detroit, USA Aman Ladia, a Grade XI student was selected for IIT Guwahati's Premier Technology event 'TechNiche 2018' and received the following awards for his exemplary performance. Aman was placed in the 'Top 5 Projects' at the Tech Expo event and received a shield for the same. He was selected from 50 college finalists to continue his research with support from professors at IIT Guwahati 'TechNiche 2018 . 2 . At the Start up Showcase contest (Industrial Conclave module) he was the youngest participant competing with 30-year-olds. His pitch was awarded the third prize, and he will now be working with a panel of Venture Capitalists to push his product into production. He also received the opportunity to interact with NASA scientists, Nobel laureates and leading industry experts to brainstorm his ideas with them. Adhyyan Sekhsaria of Grade XI won the Indian National Olympiad in Informatics 2018. He now will represent India with 3 others at International Indian National Olympiad in Informatics to be held in Japan in September. This is the 30th Year 3 Olympiad in of the International Olympiad and approx. 83 countries take part in the Informatics competition. The India leg started off with 880 contestants and after multiple rounds of competitions the top 4 were selected to represent the Country. 3 DAIS Academics and Co-curricular Achievements 2018-2019 Sr. No. NATIONAL LEVEL National Science Many of our students qualified for second Level of National Science Olympiad. 4 Olympiad (NSO) Ayaan Shankta of Class VI-B got the Zonal Excellence Certificate. He secured 22nd Rank Zonal rank in NSO Advit Ranawade of Class 9A along with other team members, called ‘Team Bloom’, was invited by the United Nations UNDP - GCNI National Convention 2019, to give a presentation on his team’s role in furthering the cause of Team Bloom at the Sustainable Development Goals in India. The presentation was made to an 5 UN audience of esteemed dignitaries of the UNDP. He was felicitated by UNDP officials and Mr Bibek Debroy, Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and a Padma Shri awardee, as well as attendees from Corporate India. Logiqids- Logical Sudarshan Manikantan of Class 3A, Ranked 1st across all cities, in the logical 6 Reasoning Exam reasoning competition conducted by Logiqids, in April 2018 Homi Bhabha Balvaignyanik Talent All the students performed well. Aditya Dalal of Class X- A won the Bronze Medal 7 Search competition- 2018-19 Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA) is an educational program with over 100 centres across 40 states in the US. The program provides young children with a hands on experience of being an entrepreneur, with guest speakers and field excursions. The children are mentored to create a business plan which is pitched to a panel of investors to seek an investment. This interactive manner of teaching not only ensures the enjoyment of the programme, but also gives the children a complete view of business and how it works. DAIS has launched this programme from the Academic Year 2017-18. 14 ideas from students of Class 8 and 9 for which we have 4 sets of winners is a Young Enterpreneurs start to the #entrepreneurship journey of these students. 8 Academy (YEA) - India 1st Prize Winner: Aaryaman Meswani and Aarav Monga. Sip ALL - A unique reusable straw with an inbuilt filter that can purify water instantly. 2nd Prize winner: Lavanya Iyer for her company Kynaid. A robot that assists in physiotherapy and it is useful to help in, hand and arm rehabilitation. 3rd Prize Winners: Manan Agarwal for his company Breath well. A sensor for AC filter that tells you when it is time for you to get it cleaned. 3rd Prize Winners: Vivaan Turakhia, Tarush Mayani and Zain Bhanji for their company Nutritoit.8 - Lip smacking healthy snacks for the trendy urban market. 4th Prize winner: Nimaye Garodia for his company RaiseIt- A trendy chair that can grow with your child. 4 DAIS Academics and Co-curricular Achievements 2018-2019 Sr. No. NATIONAL LEVEL Siddharth Doshi of Class 9 B, pitched his business plan, "Dryve", to a 'Shark Tank' style investor panel, which included several top industry experts like Mr. Harsh Mariwala - Chairman & MD Marico Limited, Mr. Amit Chandra and Mr. Samonnoi A Unique Business Banerjee of Bain Capital, Noshir Kaka - Director McKinsey & Co. and many more. 9 Idea- YEA 'Dryve', is a revolutionary idea that ensures that drunk drivers never take the steering wheel.
