Volunteers are the foundation of Hockey Manitoba. Without volunteers, who dedicate hundreds of hours to minor hockey associations, leagues and regional activities, we would not be able to offer the numerous programs and competitions that we provide for our membership. We continue to acknowledge our volunteers through our “Volunteer of the Month” programs, and certainly encourage you to nominate deserving individuals in your respective communities. On behalf of Hockey Manitoba, I would like to thank all hockey volunteers for their unselfish commitment to growing the game. As an organization, we are committed to the development of amateur hockey and creating mean- ingful hockey experiences and opportunities for thousands of members throughout our province. Hockey development programs are a focal point of Hockey Manitoba. Player, coach and on-ice of- ficials development committees, again made up of tireless volunteers, work extremely hard to ensure their successful delivery. Program of Excellence opportunities exist for our midget aged male and female players, as well as coaches and on-ice officials. In addition, we have the U-16 Male, Direc- tors’ Cup, Regional Development squads, Hockey Canada Skills camps, Esso Fun Days and Chevy Safe and Fun clinics that provide developmental opportunities for our younger athletes. Hockey Manitoba also offers certification, re-certification, supervision and mentorship for our game officials as well as specialty clinics for our coaches. Coach certification, training and mentorship are also a high priority for the branch. Hockey Manitoba is pleased to recognize official partners, Awards and More, Canad Inns and Reebok/ CCM. We are also pleased to announce that Cargill Ltd. will once again be the official sponsor of our Minor Provincial Championships for the 2012 - 13 hockey season. In addition to these championships and along with the Hockey Winnipeg minor playoffs, Hockey Manitoba is excited to see the continuation of the “AAA” male and female program. A number of corresponding showcase events are scheduled throughout the season. It is also great to see the Midget “AAA” Female provincial league preparing to operate for their second season. In April 2013, the Keystone Cup, Western Canadian Junior “B” Championship will be hosted by St. Malo. Hockey fans will definitely have the opportunity to watch excellent hockey action at all levels and age groups this season. I am very proud to have the opportunity to serve as your President and I will strive to keep our branch a strong, vibrant and progressive organization. Enjoy the benefits of membership - work hard, play fair and most importantly - HAVE FUN!
