Montreat College School of Arts and Sciences Academic Catalog 2020-2021 Montreat College 2020 - 2021 Academic Catalog Published by Montreat College, Montreat, NC 28757 This catalog provides general information about Montreat College and summarizes important informationabout the College's policies, requirements for graduation, regulations, and procedures. It is not intended to establish, nor does it establish, a contractual relationship with students. Rather, the catalog is published to acquaint students with information that will be helpful to them during their college careers. It is necessary in the general administration of the College to establish requirements and regulations governing the granting of degrees. Academic advisors, department chairs, and academic staffmembers are available to aid students in understanding these requirements and regulations. It is the student's responsibility, however, to meet them. Students are urged to keep this catalog as a reference. Changes in curricular requirements may occur during catalog publications. Students will be informed of such changes. When this occurs, students may followthe requirements in effectat the time they entered Montreat College, or they may petition to followthe changed requirements. Students must Choose to followone catalog or the other; they may not pick and Select from the various requirements outlined in two or more catalogs. Reasonable substitutions will be made fordiscontinued and changed courses. Information in the catalog is considered to be an accurate representation of Montreat College policy as of the date of publication. The College reserves the right to make such changes in educational and financial policy as the College's Faculty, Administration and/or Board of Trustees may deem consonant with sound academic and fiscal practice. The College has made a good faith effort to avoid typographical errors and other errors in the statements of policy and degree requirements as published. Montreat College is an independent Christian institution of higher learning, originally founded as a Presbyterian, church-related college, and remains grounded in the Reformedtradition. As an institution in the Presbyterian and Reformed tradition, the College seeks to treat all persons equally and emphasizes the dignity and worth of the individual.
